Unfortunately, my last bottle. This is a more red-fruited vintage than the 2010 I just tried. Not as expansive on the palate, but this is still a nice drinking wine from a so-so vintage.

Deep cherry core enveloped in leather, tobacco and funghi aromas.
Cherry continues on the palate which has very weel integrated tannins and a silky feel. This is very delicious now and certainly can keep. But will probably not get much better.

My last bottle and it showed well. Light-medium ruby. Bing cherry nose. Unlike some Chiantis, this one had plenty of flesh on the bones to stand up to the acid; one of the better-balanced such wines I have had in recent memory. Piquant, matched marinara sauce wonderfully. Right in the middle of its drinking window I should think. I like the style; not sophisticated or trying to be something it is not, just a nice red-with-pasta kind of wine. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

I guess there may be other producers that folks might consider as (or more) traditional, but more often than not, when I think about what Chianti means to me, Castell'in Villa is the producer that comes to mind first.
And for a middle of the road vintage, this wine is drinking great today - vibrant cherry fruit on the palate, good acidity & persistence - in short, pleasure in a glass. One of my last bottles from a case bought on release, and I will be sad to see these go, as off today's showing, this wine might have another decade of good drinking ahead of it.

Not bad, but not the kind of wine that is going to wow you either. There is a candied/confected note on the fruit here that is slightly distracting. Drinkable, but not as good as you would expect from this top flight producer.

This is pretty good. Lighter bodied, red fruited with menthol accents initially. With air, the wine puts on weight and becomes sappy and slightly sweet. This was my last bottle, but if I had more, I would wait a while before opening another.
This might be the weakest wine today of the trio - still credible, but not a wine that will wow you. There are some nice spice scents on the nose, so unique in that regard.
But the palate is somewhat straightforward, so ultimately less interesting than the two previous wines.

Praelum TITs - Tuscany (Praelum Wine Bistro): Pale ruby. Aromas of tomato leaves, tomato puree, blackberry, and some rosemary and cloves. Structured tannins, with cherry and tomato flavours, thyme, some meat stew, and a slightly tar smoky end. A pretty long finish. Nice!

Cool menthol is most prominent, with red and black fruit in the background.
Pretty tasty, albeit not overly complex. Light-bodied. Not bad, but I just tried a couple 2016's, both of which are tough acts to follow for this wine.

Lot of bright red fruit and classic chianti notes earth ad herb notes. Classic medium bodied chianti classico.
This was my 2nd bottle and I learnt from my previous bottle to open this in advance. I double decanted (poured out into decanter and immediately poured it back into the bottle) 6 hours ahead of time and it showed deliciously

This was very good. Slightly lighter in color and less substantial than the Felsina CCR. This one had a brighter, more lively nose showing mentholated cherry. Lighter mouthfeel and perhaps more acid than the Felsina. Some licorice accents. A very pleasant wine that is drinking well now, whereas the Felsina may need a little more time. Right now I prefer this wine.

A shade or two darker than the 2011. Ripe red and black fruit on the nose, and an earthy note as well.
Not bad on the palate, but not as cohesive as the 2011 - it feels like there is less acidity here, but you get sweet and sour cherry fruit. The finish is somewhat abbreviated as well.
Off the first glasses, I prefer the 2011 right now.

Nice Chianti, just entering its drinking window. Nice ruby. Piquant, slightly sour cherry nose. Opens up on the palate to show off pretty cherry fruit flavors and even strawberry. Perfect dose of acidity to keep it honest, with a nice, decent finish. Great with a pasta with tomato sauce. 4-11-16-8: 89/100.

Somehow feels like a complete wine. Earthy grip, After Eight chocolate dinner mint, cherry liqueur in that great Italian way. Astringent in a lively way, grips the enamel and talks of just how long it could age.

Now this is how it should be. A lovely chicken pot with lots of Chianti in it paired with an even better Chianti in the glass. Cherries combined with grass, herbs, liquorice fills the nose in a beutiful way. It needs some time to open up, but when it moves from the closed up fist to an open hand is great. In the mouth it delivers a smooth, nicely rounded sensation with dark fruit, cherries and a mellow finish. Then there's one final kick. Like the wine tells you: Hey, I'm not done yet. And completes it self with a lovely tanin/acid end that closes the wine and makes you enjoy it in the aftertaste. A very lovely wine.

Light translucent ruby in the glass; ripe red fruits are fairly pronounced on this popped & poured wine, with a menthol note as well.

Medium ruby. Good legs. Has a perfumed nose of piquant cherry. Delicious in the mouth, and easy on the acidity, so that the flavors build into a nice black cherry finish. This is an easy-drinking wine, very appealing, but no lightweight; it has the depth and stuffing to make it a serious wine, with some capacity for further aging. 4-12-16-9: 91/100.
