  • starting to fade a bit, fruit losing its grip, while the nice flint characteristic of so many Confuron wines is still relatively strong. Some bricking on the rim, but not worth keeping longer. Sour cherries, with a hint of vanilla. Drink up.

  • Nice wine, darker red fruits that I might have guessed. No green notes for me.

  • Not impressed. Nice nose and nice color. But in the mouth I thought this was reasonably flat. Limited finish, not intensity. The fruit turned quickly into alcohol, just boring and not uplift. Could have been good in its youth... But past its prime.

  • No precise notes but still drinking very nicely. Nice cherry fruit with excellent balance. Very pretty and elegant.

  • Not as good as before. More muted but still quite pretty with sour cherries, hawflakes and hint of flowers. Probably not gonna develop much more and should be drunk.

  • Purple-red with a slight fade and watery rim. Scorched earth, charred wood, strawberry and plum with a hint of green. This is certainly weightless but missing the silkiness that it showed 3-4 years ago. The mid-plate has an earthy plum profile not dissimilar from the bouquet. The finish is mineral driven. On the second day the plum fruit became deeper however the greenness was more pronounced. [86-87]

  • Wonderful dark cherry profile, great bottle of wine. No real note as drank with friends, but a killer bottle and the first to be empty.

  • Beautiful aromatics with lots of floral and coffeish strawberries. Stewerd strawberries, cherries and hawthorne berries. Very pretty. Lovely village.

  • Medium-bodied with slightly earthy notes. Very pretty with tart cherry, strawberry, and some cranberry notes. Nice pairing with marinated grilled tuna steaks.

  • Flowery nose. Beautiful color. Well balanced. Nice acidity. Delicate flavors but with a long enjoyable mid palate and finish. Popped and poured. Really began to open up after about an hour. Great food wine. Wish I had another bottle or two.

  • Bramble Dinner (Oak Avenue, Singapore): Beautiful nose. Fresh cut flowers, wet earth and dried mushrooms - so very Chambolle. Simple, but oh so fresh and succulent on the palate, which showed nicely integrated and very clean tones of strawberries, cherries and sweet plum jam, with a hint of anise floating along somewhere and a touch of earth on the finish. Litter rivulets of acid ran through the wine, giving it a really nice lift throughout, so that it went beautifully with the duck magret with strawberry cumin foam. I wish this was not my last bottle.

  • Drank with Elsa and Jerming - first couple of glasses at Jerm's place, and then the remainder over teppanyaki at Jurong Hilltop. To me, this is a quintessential Chambolle Village. Dark purple rimmed with garnet. Rathered layered profile on the nose - a base of leather and meat, a layer of mushroom overlaying that, bright morelo cherries riding on top, and wafting along above all this, perfumed, flowery scents. After time, some herb and a little bramble appeared together with a hint oak, with the perfumed top-notes also growing more prominent. Rather lightish on the palate, certainly not 1er Cru concentration, but still very good, with fine balance coming from nice, round acidity and rather lightish tannins, supporting cool cherry flavours, rather high toned, with a touch of cola and eucalyptus and a savoury, umami undertone. Finish was well-shaped and satisfying, if just a little shortish, with herbs, bramble and a tiny bit of heat. The palate started putting on weight and sweeteness into the second hour, with cranberry juice tones emerging. Liberal dashes of pepper and bits of the bitter root showed up overtime, evolving into ginseng-like flavours on the finish. Very 2004, but never quite unpleasant. Again, I found this wine a little simple, but otherwise, everything was just about right. Very Chambolle, very delicate, light- medium boded, very perfumed, feminine, very pretty.

  • The Finest Burgundy Domains: The Classical 2004 (Caveau): Light brownish. This has light brightish small cherries and haw flakes on the nose. Dried preserved plums dominates with a seamless transition from the fore to finish. Very elegant with a leathery mushroomy kick. Yum.

  • Vinum 2004 Burgundy Tasting (Caveau, Singapore): I liked this quite a bit - one of the better wines and, by consensus and by quite a distance, the best value amongst all that we tasted today. I actually enjoyed it enough to immediately purchase a couple of bottles. Rather lightly coloured, purple shaded with garnet tones. A touch of leather on the nose and perfumed fruits that brought to mind haw flakes and preserved plums. Rather seamless transition to the nice, fresh palate, which showed leather, preserved plums and just a touch of mushroom. Nice, lengthy finish with a touch of cherry cola and a little display of lingering intensity. Simple, but oh so pretty. Looking forward to popping my two bottles.
