I still have a half dozen 2012s and was worried they might be past their drinking window. No way, it was awesome. Color is much more brown than before but there is still fruit and awesome tertiary flavors. The wine looks caramel colored. The legs are slow. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like raisin, prune and mushroom. It tastes like blackberry, raspberry, red currant, mushroom and forest floor. The body is full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Possibly past its drink date. Not corked, but it does not taste well. Day 1: Nose was extremely plummy with an aftertaste of bitter cranberry. Color was cloudy and plum colored. Day 2: No improvement. Nose leveled off a bit and showed some red fruits, but the aftertaste was astringent, bitter, and undrinkable.

I wanted to purchase a bottle at the winery and ultimately elected the '14 over this one for no good reason. There's an amazing consistencies across all three vintages.

Terribly thin with an aftertaste of bitter cranberry. Have had Windward before and have never been disappointed. May have just been a dud bottle, but not good.

Had the privilege of tasting 3 vintages in flight at the winery with the son of the owner. All were 90+ point wines, and in reality a tribute to the purity of the Paso Robles terroir. These may be the only monoplole wines in California. This 2012 was the oldest and most Burgundian. The previous vintages were problematic at best, so the vines were stressed and tested. The 2012 was almost perfect and the vines gave us their all. Really nice combination of California ripeness and Burgundian earthiness. Darker color than typical. Totally alive and complete while still young and developing.
