  • Pretty good. It was holding up ok actually, showing its grenache with dusty strawberry and raspberry flavors, with some black fruit, too. But not great.

  • Initially opened a little tight but quickly opened up with nice fruit and balance at 10 mins. Problem was within the next hour onward quickly turned harsh, fruit took a back seat to the wood. Dumped the last glass +. May be over the hill as I don't think this will improve much.

  • Grenache on the attack, Syrah on the sustain. Nice complexity, not fully integrated (perhaps with time), but great for the price. B

  • Nice fruit. Good smoke flavors with some earthiness. Goes down easy with Zachery's pizza. Hard to beat for $11.

  • Too oaky. Creaminess is not what I'm looking for in a Rhone style wine. Bought this because I liked the 2000 version pretty well a few months ago, but that was a lot more sophisticated, and I don't this it was just the age difference. The characteristics of the Rhone varietals isn't coming through at all. Also a little too sweet to be a good food wine. I know some others have posted positive tasting notes on this, but I have to respectfully disagree.

  • Opened tonight with taco salad at Eric and Cillesa's. Good fruit, but also has good smoke and an earthiness to it. Some tannins are there to balance the fruit, but it is quite drinkable today and probably a few years into the future. Quite enjoyable and could likely get better with some time. Good California Rhone blend for a good price.

  • Tasted at VinoVenue in San Francisco. A blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Counoise, this tastes just like you would imagine a pumped-up California CdR/CdP would. It is fruity, and has a lovely and silky coat the mouth palate with sufficient acidity to balance the fruit. It's not a bit cloying or hot and has a lot of complexity for a $15 wine. I think this is a great value.

  • Excellent to very good; little bright on the nose; cherry and jam flavors; low tannins, but still dry; grassy tones; sweet tease on the tongue that resolves to low (not soft) tannins; deep color and smooth body, but a little thin
