  • Relatively consistent with my previous note, although this bottle felt a bit lighter and slightly less complex.

  • Gorgeous nose of wild strawberries, forest notes, grapefruit, leather, and a bit of candied fruit. Very slight effervescence on the palate with high acidity, and more strawberry flavors, cherries, and a bit more forest notes. Long finish. This strongly reminded me of a high quality Red Burgundy, although a bit lighter with less body and more acidity. Awesome wine!

  • Of all the wines I have had from Ganevat this one convinced me the least. At cause were a slight prickle, felt on the palate but not visible, and a slightly confected note to its bouquet, which with a producer of lesser calibre I might attribute to alchemy with commercial yeasts. Both the colour and the palate were quite light but the latter was linear in shape and quite long and the young Pinot fruit was bright, fine and eloquent mingled with delicate minerality, some spice, fresh acidity and texture which I felt became silkier with exposure to air (remarks from the other side of the table disagreed). Either decanting and/or more age might help. Almost very good.

  • Amazing aroma of smoke, spicy red fruit, forest mold, and tropical flowers. Delicious spread of dry sparkling acidic fruit on the palate with a lovely sweetness emerging at the back. An utterly delicious wine with Mediterranean baked swordfish and grilled asparagus. 50 + 17 + 16 + 8 = 91.

  • Quelle buvabilité! Belle finesse et fraîcheur au rendez-vous, on souhaiterait plus de tonus et de complexité, mais c'est succulent.

  • The wine is definitely dynamic and changed immensely over the course of five hours or so. The color is a glowing magenta core with shades of pink near the rim. The nose is a bit more simple than the palate with focused cherry and a slight earthy note. This shines on the palate with a beautiful core of cherry with edges of cinnamon and dried leaves and a wonderful menthe note. After a few hours a nice mineral note shines through in the mid palate that feels like a mix between stones and and a metallic sense. Well structured but seamlessly integrated so that this is pleasurable from first sip and the tannins are only felt slightly as a dusty sensation on the rear palate and the acid provides more lift to the fruit than any tartness.
This is one of those wines with obvious flaws and yet they all work well together and produce a well balanced and beautiful wine. When first opened there was a touch of effervescence that was a bit worrying but it blew off in 15 minutes or so and the wine continued to develop beautifully over the course of the evening.

  • No make-up. Grape and terroir. Not funky. Pure, light, fresh, tense. Lovely.

  • Reductive at first, sense of pillbox covers the fruit. Gets better after 15 minutes or so in the glass, dusy red fruit, rubber, vin nature-funk, tart rhubarbs and powded sugar. Fine soft acidity and tiny tannins in the background. Easy drinking with great energy without a lot of complexity. Best around 14 degrees.
