cork soaked 7/8 through so happy to open this not much salty minerality but the maturity elegance and butteriness with residual acidity was special. enjoyed by all after vistro prime dinner

Classic Leflaive sesame, ripe yellow fruit, and caramalized almond on the nose. Palate shows the vintage ripeness with moderate acidity. Drinking at peak. I would not wait.

This was actually the '01. A great showing, and more than held its weight alongside its bigger brother ('01 Leflaive BBM). Everything you want in mature, old school Leflaive, in that perfect sweet spot of balancing complexity from its age but still retaining vibrancy from its youth. Excellent.

Beef and Vosne (Holland Park): This had a lovely nose, with a hint of smoky toast, some sweet cream, white fruit, a drift of white flowers, very classically Puligny. The palate was lovely too, soft and voluptuous, with enough balancing acidity to keep its delicious flavours of white fruit, citrus peel and gentle spice all very balanced and focused. Great long finish too, with a touch of minerality and a soupçon of spice wrapped up into a beautifully integrated back-palate. A superb Folatieres, drinking nicely now. Hitting above its weight - this stood toe-to-toe with a 2000 Chevalier-Monty and showed nicely.

'Vintage Pairs II' Offline (The Ledbury, London): Slightly bacon fat nose, mineral, some oak. A touch of spice. A little fatter and more obvious than the Puceller! Very elegant with a lovely spicey finish. ****

Light yellow colour. The bouquet revealed notes of chalk and dust. To begin with the wine was closed, but it opened up with air and the temperature rising in the glass. The acid is quite pronounced in this wine providing a fresh and bitey delivery, carried through by good, ripe, concentrated fruit. Nice complexity and elegance and a delicious, vanilla-sweet aftertaste to follow. 92 points

A little nutty, with some rich cheese or bacon fat. Good acidity.
