Somewhere in between the Jacqueline Leonne and Dom Perignon in terms of styling. Fairly balanced, lacking in intensity. Not very memorable, but not a bad brut, quite decent overall. 89 pts

This had a rich and expressive bouquet of pear, brioche, lemon, almond and mineral aromas. The palate was rich, complex and dry with flavors of pear, nectarine, lemon, almond and chalky minerals.

Yellow colour with fine bubbles. Youthful on the nose with bread, citrus and a nice autolytical character. Fresh on the palate with a distinct lemon bitterness that last a long time. This is maybe not as nuanced and fruity as other 2008s, but mainly dominated by the lovely acidity of the vintage for the time being. But with extra cellar time I believe this should be really nice! (Probably best 2018-2033)

Champagnemiddag med FVL (Restaurang Hantverket): Lovely youthful nose showing hazelnuts, minerals and citrus flowers. Fresh and smooth palate with a distinct lime peel finish. Already accessible and drinking well, but with potential for a long future ahead. Best 2018-2033.

According to the producer, 2008 was their best vintage in 15 years, the explanation given is that the acidity and level of dosage are perfectly matched. Indeed, the Mailly Grand Cru Brut Millesimé is both vivid and creamy at the core. With pear and stone fruit; apricot and white peach overlaying a linear spine of oyster shell amid nuanced aromas of honey, fresh croissant and spring blossoms. There is weight but weightlessness too. For the price, tuck a few bottles away in your cellar. 6 g/l dosage. Sample

Big nose of apple showing the Pinot Noir grapes. In the mouth it is a litte short but very fresh and young. Will gain complexity with 2-4 years in the cellar. 2,5 njp

Trending towards honeyed lemon, with a hint of toast.

Citrus, apple, florals, and baked bread nose with a Fino minerality. Fruity and bright with a fresh, lemony acidity. Long, apple blossom finish.
