Very good to read meat, french fries, mushrooms and bearnaisesauce. Also a nice tasteon its own, very full bodied, as I prefer wines to be if to drink on its own. A good value for money at 52 euro.

It tastes like a Spanish wine made in a New World sort of style. It has that Spanish dusty/metallic minerality and balsamico flavors: chocolate, licorice, fennel seed, laurel, curry, sandalwood, incense, spearmint, and bell pepper along with plum and blueberry fruits. It shows it’s age with leathery notes, though it still has nice fruit. It’s very polished, but it’s also not super exciting (reminds me of Washington State Cabernet in that way).
In my opinion, it needs more acidity because it doesn’t pop like those Virginia Cabs I just opened and it was just a bit dull with food (a roasted squash and seared halloumi salad and an anchovy stuffed roast chicken). The tannic structure has resolved and loosened up and the wine is full bodied, but it isn’t as silky as I can get from top Bordeaux. I gave it a few hours to sit in the bottle with the cork off, but I think less air would have been better. In the end, I didn’t feel like I got the best of both worlds: I got an ok Cab and an ok Spanish red rather than an exceptional Spanish cabernet. This was fun to try, but I think that I would rather stick to traditional Spanish grapes or traditional Cabernet locations.
This was a good wine, but what it makes me realize is that a good Bordeaux wine from Virginia (I opened a 2014 Keswick Cab Reserve and a 2014 Linden Avenius just before this one so they are on my mind) are very good because this wine paled in comparison to them. Better in the larger Riedel over the Zalto Bordeaux and better with less air. I’d say it was in a good spot for drinking and wouldn’t want to age it too much longer.

This was superb. More of a modern style in its rich blue fruit but balanced with just enough acidity and a touch of metallic minerality that made for a really interesting enjoyable wine. Perfectly at peak

This is the resut of excellent winemaking of not so great grapes I guess. It has all the attribute of an excellent wine upfront with good concentration and sweet oak. There is some decent fruits flavors. The problem, for me, is the finish: vegetal flavors with forest tea or menthol replace the fruit and are not masked by the oak. I tried to like it. My wife rated it 91. But my personal conclusion is that I don’t like it very much and certainly would drink a simple beaujolais rated 84-85 than this.
If you like the finish, you could certainly have a very different opinion than mine.

Eerste impressie is heerlijk zacht. Deze is mooi op dronk. Barstensvol zwart fruit. Klein beetje leer in zowel smaak als reuk. Blijft lekker lang hangen. Gekocht bij Chacalli in 2017 voor €27,90.

Deep garnet colour, juicy ripe red and black fruit at opening. Smooth and silky tanins from the front to back of the palate. Perfectly balanced, full bodied and delicious. This win at any vintage never disappoints.

On this side of the pond, Mas La Plana is relatively unknown...or at least I get that impression because nobody in my circles ever talks about it. Yet, it is arguably one of the most important and storied vineyards in all of Spain. Maybe it’s because it’s planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and not Tempranillo. Maybe it’s because it’s from the Penedes and not Rioja or Ribera del Duero? Maybe it’s because it’s a Miguel Torres wine? Likely, it’s a combination of all three. However, all of those things cannot take away the fact that this is a world class wine. It’s fruit laden but a little age gives this complexity a deft balance that I usually associate with classified growths from Bordeaux. It’s not French. It’s not international. It’s not even really Spanish. It’s Finca Mas La Plana...and that’s what I love a respect about this wine every time I get to try it. That being said, these do need cellar time to truly appreciate and ten years or so is a good rule of thumb. They will undoubtedly last much longer.

One of the best Cabs I've had all year is from...Spain? Yes, and this is firing on all cylinders right now - ripe blackberry, plum, earth, graphite, and hints of oak commingle throughout. Lush, but still has some bite on the medium-long finish. Terrific.

Medium plus nose shows black plum, dried blackberry, forest floor, graphite, fresh herbs, baking spice, graphite. Palate is gorgeous, layers of dried fruit, earth, blackberry skin, cassis, dried spice, forest floor, mushroom. More layers I'm not naming, killer juice.

PWS (@ PdV): Beautiful bouquet with dark berries and sweet spices like cinnamon. On the palate red berries, rose hips, vanilla, chocolate, good acidity and soft tannin. Overall considerably better at this moment than the 2008. 92+

Very deep colour, totally opaque. Excellent, almost sweet, fruit now but with a great future. Superb, complex fruits with dark cherries taking over late. Lovely balance now but this wine has decades ahead of it. I think I have been a bit mean with my score - it will deserve a much higher score as it grows and matures. I don't understand the current score on CT which is shown as 88.7 and doesn't seem to reflect the opinions of reviewers. 92++ Tasted at Grand Union Wine Society with Nick Gent of Rodney Densem Wines and Ed Hobbs of John E Fells, UK importer of Torres wines.

So enjoyable. Rich and meaty. Definitely shows its best with food. I pulled the cork in the morning. The wine was pretty with red berry notes. By dinner time, the wine was showing more black berries, earthy notes and graphite. Tannins weren't pronounced but the wine took on a bitter time when served cool. Room temperature and leg of lamb!!

Bu à l'aveugle on avait tous guessé bordeaux pas trop cher. Bonne longueur.

I have been drinking different vintages of this wine for over 20 years. To me it is a fabulous and consistent wine ...... rivalling almost any cabernet sauvignon wine I can afford to drink on a fairly regular basis (regular being 2 or 3 times a year). This wine ages beautifully. Until this point I would have to say the 1999 vintage was my favorite in recorded history. The 2010 was also extraordinary. However, this 2011 may push those beliefs.
14.5% alc. 100% cab sauv Aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels
Dark inky purple and red. Beautiful aromas .... bring on the plush red fruits, cassis, graphite, herbs (sage, mint, ....), and some stony-ness. Medium to full bodied with some nice weight on the mouthfeel but still an overall impression freshness. Good grip and concentration. Very good acidity. Tannins are medium, drying, and dusty to slightly chewy but not overwhelming. Nice rich elegant dark fruit flavours, cassis, cedar, tobacco, and herbs. More fulsome then a Bordeaux, but not as overt as a Napa Cab can be. But it has that little rustic feel umami/savory feature that Spanish wines have.
93-94 points but this will improve over time. Great glass of wine.

Enjoyed at " La Vinoteca Torres" in Barcelona, this one is really classy, depth and precision, in restrained style, the balance is impeccable. Tannins are intense and a bit dry but yet friendly. Amazed how approachable are these wines in their youth, though patience will be rewarded...
