  • Deep ruby colour. Pronounced intensity aromas in a developing stage, showing notes of cherry jam, very ripe dark plums, chocolate, vanilla, lavender and hints of nail varnish remover.

It is dry in the mouth with a low acidity. It has medium+ supple tannins and a high warm alcohol. It has a full body and pronounced intensity flavours. The finish is long.

It is a very good quality wine. It reflects well the typicity of Alentejo through its smoothness, ripe aromas and low acidity. The flavour concentration is remarkable and the finish very persistent. However, albeit it shows some complexity provided by oak ageing it is not enough to consider it outstanding. It also lacks a bit of balance lacking some freshness.

Can drink now, but it has enough fruit concentration and some tannic structure to develop some tertiary aromas over the next 2-3 years.

  • 2015 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/19/2015-10/27/2015 (New York City, NY): An unspecified blend of Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Miúda and Touriga Nacional, this inky, opaque crimson wine was consumed with multiple dishes at a renowned New York Portuguese-themed restaurant. Chosen and decanted by our sommelier, it proved itself to be a worthy companion to the delicious dishes. Very floral on the nose, it is quite possible that a blindfolded taster would confuse this for a fine white wine (if only allowed to sniff). White flowers, lavender, black raspberry, coriander and cardamom adorn the nose and palate. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and without noticeable alcohol (14%), it frames the flavors with medium-weight, supple tannins and gains traction in the middle. Closing medium-to-long, this is yet another underrated performer from Portugal. Drink now-2025.
