  • Six years after, a perfect combination of finess and elegance, power always balanced. Smoothed acidity, faded fruit, refined tannins. Elegant nose of ripe blackberries and violet flowers, mouth consistent with pepper and some blueberries. Slow wine after dinner. My best Arpepe so far

  • decanted 1,5hour
garnet red with elegant nose of ripe blackberries, leather and violet flowers of medium intensity.
in the mouth the wine was extremely balanced with very gentle tannins. Again blackberries, plums, pepper and some blueberries.
    Mineral with very good length!
    Highly recommended!

  • Miam. Quel joli Nebbiolo.

  • A standout producer from Valtellina, this bottle was slightly of. Significantly more developed compared to previous bottles from same case. Hints of downhill indicators. Still gorgeous to drink and occasionally impresses during the evening with beautiful aromas of dried cherries and roses.

  • an hour open and consumed over the next two. Well, I'm the ouitlier here as for me this wine is a perfect combination of finess and elegance with just a hint of power but always so balanced. No big fruit, perfect acid and refined tannins, the fruit element is light bodied yet lingers in the mouth forever. One can't 'be in a hurry here. Should last a long time as nebbiolo do. So the only negative for a high score is the depth of fruit being somewhat minimal and not bold which usually garner hi scores, I still like this for me in the mid 90's which is perfectly fine.

  • Another great wine from Arpepe! Light and airy nose with lots of fresh red cherries, raspberry, rose petals, cut grass, balsamico and menthol.

High acidity, softer tannins and lighter body than it's siblings from Langhe. Sappy red fruits, rose petals and fresh herbs. Great intensity and length.

Open for business but still on the young side and lots of potential for further development.

  • More up front fruit (just barely) than the Rocca di Piro Grumello, with added savory notes and balsamic. Softer, rounder than the Rocca, although it's usually the reverse where Grumello is a bit more dense and rich (b/c calcareous limestone soils).

  • (drunk in a real good restaurant in Bergamo). Local food and local wine. Nice nebbiolo notes of red cherry, spicy, salinated. Really elegant, medium bodied, not too long. I much appreciate it.

  • Light and fragrant nebbiolo aromas. Super elegant and tart. Light as a feather, but intense and concentrated.

  • Rather pale in colour and slightly evolved around the rim. Quite shy on the nose - notes of dried fruit, spices, red flowers. Much more going on on the palate. Nice grip, fresh, bright mineral. Spicy, long finish. Drink or keep. 89-91

  • Made from Chiavennasca grapes harvested late in October. Fermented and macerated for 6 days in 5000-liter conical oak vats. Aged for 24 months, first in conical vats, 5000-liter botti casks and concrete tanks, then in bottles. 13,5% alcohol. Total production 25000 bottles.

Moderately deep, translucent cherry red color with brick-orange overtones. Very fine, delicate and ever-so-slightly developed Nebbiolo nose with aromas of fresh, sweet red cherries, sour cherries, some understated waxy tones, a little bit of wizened dark berries and even light raisiny tones, a perfumed hint of roses and a touch of smoke and tar. The wine is medium-bodied, moderately rich and pretty ripe on the palate with somewhat concentrated overall feel. There are pretty rich flavors of sour cherries, ripe dark berries, some tar, a little bit of earthy and slightly smoky pungent spices and a floral hint of roses. the wine is moderately high in acidity with quite grippy medium-plus tannins. The finish is rich, long and quite tannic with juicy flavors of black cherries, some fresh dark berries, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness, light smoky tones and a hint of earthy spice.

A wonderfully harmonious, delicious and juicy Valtellina red with rather similar overall character than in wines of Gattinara and Ghemme of the neighboring Piedmont. The wine shows lots of ripeness and even surprisingly concentrated feel - for a Valtellina red - yet the wine is relatively fresh and delicate at the same time. Stylistically the wine feels a lot more sophisticated and delicate compared to the burlier and weightier 2011 Nebbiolos of Barolo and Barbaresco. Drinking wonderfully now, but most likely will continue to develop easily for a decade and most likely even longer. Priced according to its quality at 34,30€.

  • Arpepe is the best value for money in Valtellina.. The wines are always crisps, fresh, ethereal, fantastic to drink and perfect for food pairings. This one is no exception

  • One of my absolute favorite Sassella from Valtellina.
The color is the typical ruby red of Nebbiolo, still devoid of garnet reflections .
The nose is filled with notes of cherry, violet, tobacco and spice that combine in extraordinary elegance. The mouth is rich and warm, tannins blending with freshness to form a harmonious, silky texture.
Good body and a very long finish.
Pair with red meat, game stews, medium-aged cheese.
