Medium purple with a bouquet of fresh cut green pepper and smoke. The palate is similar with some hints of pine/astringency as well. Long finish. Modest (12%) alcohol. Beautifully balanced. Going strong 4 hours after opening. This has really opened up with bottle age compared with three years ago. A classic Loire Valley Bourgueil and a real treat for any lover of Cabernet Franc.

Improved after being open an hour - tannins settled down and more integrated. Light (thin?) with some acid, funk, tannin; not much fruit at all. Won't rate.

FRANCOPHILE and DRROBVINO describe it well. It is a great example of its type and a fantastic deal in the U.S. wine market at $12. Guion's wines are just so pretty and simple yet elegant and subtly engaging for such a nice price. These work so well on the table. They're not intrusive but not boring. 12% abv.
No more of the '14 Domaine left, but just opened my first Deux Monts a few months ago and it bodes very well for the stash of those starting in a couple years!

Bottle 3 of 4. Bright cherry, earthy barnyard aromas, minerality, a bit of pepper. Great food wine, hard to beat at $13 USD. Fun and friendly. Drink now through 2021+.

Very nice little Loire valley red. I wish I had this sooner to take advantage of the vibrancy that others mention, because at 5 years out this was a little tired, although by no means dead. Adjusting the tasting window on the other to bring it up!

Just starting to round into form. Less primary and better balanced than before. I only have one left after this sadly, though plenty of the Prestige. I never buy enough of the domaine, which is foolish because it also drinks very well. This should continue to improve in the short term and drink well for a decade. From a $12 wine!

My Daughter and my wife thought this was a Pinot Noir, Similar color, light and lively on palate with a little fruit, bell pepper and spice. Very mild tannins and wonderful acidity. $12....!! Amazing QPR.

Wow, this seems like the best QPR of all time. Just a classic cab franc, flowery, balanced, incredibly drinkable. Reading my prior notes from 2016, seems like this just needed a year or two to really come together which it really has. Wish I had a case of this.

Lots of fruit on the nose. Light and fruity initially. The tannins show up after some air. Lighter than I was expecting. Very drinkable with a little air.

Young primary closed. In fact as closed as I've seen young Guion. Should be excellent but really shouldn't be touched for a year or more. Decant for a long time if you must drink it now.

For $12, I like it a lot. Second glass hasn't held up quite so well as the first, and I might prefer something a little less syrupy, not that it is too much of that, and that's a quibble. I personally like a little herbaceousness in my cab franc -- and again, just a tad -- and on the whole this has a nice sweet and savory aspect that makes it a very relaxing weeknight drink.
Quite good. Quite a bargain at $11. Some fruit, but typical and expected "green" flavors that are layered with minerals. Cab Franc fruit. Easy drinking. Held up well for 3 days with no change or oxidation. Percy Selections.

Very good, juicy and crisp Cab Franc. Good concentration and very clean fruit with hints of stems, herbs and earth. The structure is more than one would expect for such an inexpensive wine and this certainly will get better with some medium term cellaring.

Painfully young, but this points to very high expectations for this vintage. Dense and packed at this point, it really needs more time to unwind than we gave it. I wouldn't touch these for a bit without a good decant, but everything is in order: Good density and intensity of fruit, enough acid to balance, weightless body, and a touch of oak that I've not seen on a Guion wine before but that should integrate just fine with a bit of time. I expect they must be working some newer barrels into the blend this vintage. Very good, can't wait for the prestige.

This is a typical Bourgueil and I really like Cab Franc. I thought this was more rounded than the Pithon Paille drunk alongside it.
