Revisited almost 2 years down the line. Less dark fruits on the nose, but they are still evident with cedar. Rich, full bodied, long finish. Still drinking very well and I believe good for 3-5 years.

Deep ruby. Blackberries, black cherries, spice nose. Similar palate with syrup, figs, liquorice & black pepper. Still a little closed, but I think that this has improved since last year and may have the potential to improve a bit further. 15% alcohol.

Consistent with first note (90 pts, June 2017), but heading down the hill. 2012 vintage, but tastes like Syrahs from 2000. Previously noted it had port-like qualities, and now believe that is due to lots of oxygen introduced during winemaking to make it an "early drinker".

Decanted 2-3 hours before drinking. Deep ruby, real in your face wine. Black fruits, maybe some dried fruits on the nose. Dry, medium acid, bit closed. Think it may improve.....

Inky darkness and dark earth, BlackBerry nose. Loads of BlackBerry flavor, and I like the graphite and coffee ground comments from other tasters.
The flavors are dry and grippy with a core of dark berry. I feel like the tannins are still a bit tough and astringent. Acidity is high and a bit too much.

My second bottle in 4 months, and I'm really enjoying it. No change from my previous notes.."Purchased this from a retailer without knowing anything about it. It was a pleasant surprise, especially for the price. I had this with my wine group and it might have been the WOTN. Medium long finish, nice nose, medium bodied."

A darn good wine for $26?! What a QPR! The wine got better with air and really came together on night 2. Deep notes of dark berries, earth, meat juices and graphite leading to a medium bodied full flavored palate.

Very good surprise here. I think I had not tried wines from this region ultil this moment, and I really enjoyed it. Great complexity and full body. Ready to drink but will hold a couple of years.

A properly dark and brooding wine, with density akin to port. Explosively dark. Cooked red and black fruits, dates, coffee grounds, cacao. Mostly secondaries on the palate. Touch of cacao bitterness on the finish. Perhaps needs some years, though acid and tannins are fine now. Good complexity, quite good length. Drank over 2 days, better on day 1.

Luxurious style, with an aromatic profile that flirts with the New World style, the 2012 Secret de Schistes greets us with its undeniable flavor keeping a serious posture when confronted with such intensity. Predominance of chocolate liqueur, licorice, cassis, cherry and some spices, in a full and robust wine, of structural harmony and involving exuberance. 93

The first sampled and frankly a lovely surprise. Bone dry and well integrated after a 45 min decant.

Savory as usual with chocolate licour, licorice, plums, resin and spices on back palate. Creamy and full. Nicely polished. 92
