Punches way above its pedigree! Fine Grained Tannins which took about a half hour (and some food) to soften. Beautiful Cherry Core, some earth and spice. Very nice bottle (from PC)

Nose of deep raspberry with soil inflections and some damp leaves. Filled out and generous in the mouth. Light tannins and great balance of the body and acidity. Not fading. Still quite lively. Last of the case.

I have not had one of these in years, and though they are still not showing any age, they have come together very nicely. Popped and poured, showed very much above its pedigree. Beautiful cherry candy core, with very fine tannins.

I initially noticed that the cork was heavily stained all around, and upon opening this smells like it's corked. Maybe this is the first cooked and corked bottle of wine I've opened? Purchased from PremierCru BTW. Upon tasting it's very earthy and really rather pleasant on the palate, not completely closed as one might expect. As the wine opens up it's developing a funky side and I'm torn between this being corked or just clashing with my salmon. So in conclusion I have no f'in idea what's going on with this wine...

A regal burgundy that is earthy, terroir driven. A vinturi decant opened it up measurably. The is a tremendous medium-bodied burgundy that is just entering it's drinking window. Decant for a couple hours now or hold. Excellent QPR.

Third straight bottle with cork in bad shape. Entire shipment must have been heat damaged. Very fruit forward like a CA PN. Drinkable especially after the funk blew off. Just get a sense that I am drinking morphed wine.

Like an unwilling plaster wall for the first couple hours. Next time I'd decant. Once it opens up, it offers pleasant urine and steaming mole* smells with a pure, scooped palate of spoiled well water and blackberries. Pretty good!
*the spicy chocolate mexican sauce. not the little burrowing mammal, skin spot, or spy.

Blind Pinots, cheeses, and charcuterie (my place): nose: beautiful and captivating nose of herbs, dark red cherries, spice tones, hi-toned red florals and bits of fresh picked strawberries. Has a real lovely and feminine style to it
taste: very good medium feel with noticeable medium/high acidity and tannins along with balanced tones of strawberries, hi-toned red florals, herbs, and bits of dark red cherries
overall: I was very happy with this when it was revealed. I had been given this as a gift and it was great. This seemed to have a bit of a nebbiolo type characteristic to it in how it was perfumed. This had recieved a 2 hour or so decant and was still showing young. This could certainly use another 2 or 3 years to fully balance out. A stunning wine for the appellation

Blind Pinots w/Dinner & Charcuterie (Wilmette, IL): Tasted blind, but knew a Burg was involved--correctly called it out! Nose presents first red fruits, some dark fruits, and many scents that form together to remind me of an oven roast--meat, toasty herbs, etc. Some faint florals too. Fragrant & interesting. When tasting, this has an acidity that is slightly meaty and is prominent throughout; really gives it a good structure. Rich dark & red fruits wrap around that acidic core and at the finish are met by mild tannins, a touch of brown spice, and some baking herbs. Medium length finish. 89-90

Great QPR. A little on the heavy side for Burgundy--a cross between RRV and Cotes de Nuits. But quite enjoyable when expectations are managed. It lacks some dimension.

Purchased 'en premier' for $17. Dark ruby in color with a hint of violet on the edges. Overwhelming nose of barnyard and earth. There is definitely terrior here. Behind the earthy notes lies subtle aromas of blackberry, boisenberry and ripe cherry. The crisp acidity (it's boarderline effervescent) make this an excellent food wine, and the tannins can stand up to a steak. (I served porterhouses for dinner). This could use a little time for the tannins and acidity to settle down, but this is a very enjoyable wine. The fruit with the barnyard notes really make this a complex wine. And I like the fact that there is very little oak here. Outstanding

I'm almost embarrassed to admit drinking a D Laurent here, but I have found his lesser cuvees to actually be free of oak (gotta do something with all those leftover barrels, I guess)...my issues with this wine were its insane density. It was almost more like a CNpape or burlier. Part of that was vintage, but this went into another league, really extracted.
I just pulled the bottle out of the fridge to take another taste. I drank none of it last night. There is more oak on this than I could get last night; it is showing itself a lot more clearly. It's quite complex with darker tone pinot fruit, and a decent amount of tannin and pucker. Closer to a Dehlinger than a Burgundy. Not for me, don't know what I was thinking here.

I think the wine is getting a bit bigger, but it does not seem to be shutting down, just taking a little longer to open up. There is plenty of crisp acidity to keep the sappy dark fruits in balance. Finish has a touch of pine resin and a light bit of wood.

Showed as good as the first. Opened and poured a glass about an hour before serving. I really like this wine. It shows a very nice balance with red berries some wood, and I believe the stems show thru to add some verve. It has a very nice feminine finish which had great presence and mouthfeel.

I will give the benefit of believing I did not give this bottle enough time to come around, based on the hour I did follow it, and its improvement. Very nice sappy red fruits, very little oak (from many others comments I expected more) with a little earth and a very nice evergreen finish. The mouth feel of this wine is very nice and silky with a lot of mineral. The acids are probably what I liked most about this wine - which gave the wine a crisper aspect, and a cleaner finish. It seemed to me like it kept the fruit in line and let the soft evergreen finish come thru. I think this is the best $15 bottle of wine I have had the pleasure of drinking. I am looking forward to the second half.
Second night - wine is more sappy with beautifully ripe fruits, still that nice touch of evergreen on the finish, but less acids are found. I really like this wine.
