Pastrami day (Chicago, IL): Put this in the line of somewhat disappointing 2014 white Burgundies I've drank this week. Nothing really special here, it's a fine wine, but shows kind of fat and nondescript, and the expected mineral/acid cut of 2014 is missing in action. For the fairly nice site, I would have also expected a bit more overall complexity too.

Classic Meursault, rich, heady, voluminous and full. There's plenty of almond butter and ripe peach fruit. It is layered and creamy and finishes with some tangerine and lemon freshness. Length is very good.

Some wines with chili crab etc. (Chicago, IL): A very broad and rich wine, with tons of spicy oak here. There's a really thick, sappy quality here, but sufficient acidity to balance it out. This doesn't have the intense raciness of other 2014s, but this is still a good wine. A bit of oiliness on the palate, with some apple and stone fruit flavours.

Château de Meursault Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Ripe apple with charming floral aromas. Same orchard fruit flavors, subtle spice, good textures and balance already. Moderate weight, very good for the medium term, from 2018.

Garden BBQ with friends (Gounari): Nice typicity. Ideal at ca. 14°C, after having spent about 20 minutes in a decanter.

Fiori bianchi, vaniglia, burro. Tipico Meursault. Sempre all'altezza.

Wednesday Cellar Visits in Burgundy - Chateau de Meursault and Domaine des Croix (Cote d'Or): Tasted at the domaine. Enticing floral, spice and lush apple aromas. Ripe flavors, rounded textures. Ready early, tasting better now vs Perrieres, but not as cellarworthy. 90-91 point potential.
