This is a disappointing Richebourg. It tasted much younger than what it is. The nose had menthol, dark fruit, oak, metal and alcohol. On the palate, the oak component was overwhelming which dominated the fruit. The after taste was bitter. It is really surprising that the oak is still so austere at the current stage. The oak itself was not very good also.

Definitely picked up on the licorice. Oak was very subtle. This wine is extremely balanced, however, I felt it could have shown a bit more fruit. I would love to have another to compare a wine of this stature with itself after aging.

Vosne-Romanee Grand Cru and Premier Cru Dinner (Kevin Restaurant, Chicago IL): Tasted single blind. Muted fruit aromas with modest spice. Seems more shut down that anything. Similar on palate with good concentration and density, just everything hidden behind fairly assertive structure. Better 2010-2025 with upside.

Full purple red. Big bold tight black fruit aroma with licorice hints and oak notes. Really big bold black fruit with tannin on the long finish. Showed better with the food. This is just a little too young and should be great with time. 7/06

La Paulée de San Francisco - Gala Dinner (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Late night, small glass, brief note. A less thrilling 1995, this wine is still too firm with fruit that's not quite living up to the level of structure.
