I had kept this with the idea of doing a vertical tasting, but all of these bottles from the 80's have been disappointing and not age worthy. Not flawed, but uninteresting; lacking fruit and turning a bit bitter.

First Tuesday Ridge Petite Sirah Vertical at Chuck's House. Dark brick, with some lightening. A bit dry and astringent. The only wine of the evening that seemed over the hill to me. My least favorite of the night, although, the group preferred it to the '87 Devil's Hill. (14/15)

At home in the evening. Attractive ruby-purple color. Deep, dark, looks fabulous. Great nose. Very forward fruit, black pepper; vibrant, alive. On the palate, it is very exciting, with excellent fruit. Pepper. Long finish. Elegant, sexy, racy. This is an excellent bottle. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.
