Thoroughly enjoyed this. Well made wild yeast pinot. Dirty and earthy with a nice core of fruit. Nice mature pinot. This can still go but don't see much improvement,

I bought this wine at the winery years ago, and sampled a few bottles over the past 4 years. A normal California Pinot, good, but not great. This final bottle has reached it's full potential. Great balance nose, smoky, well integrated fruit, with a hint of forest floor. The flavor profile was excellent, with red fruit, and a hint of tobacco. "Drink em if you have em".....This one is ready.

91-86-85 (ratings right out of the cellar... still too cold.) Easy (like a Sunday morning?) Yes, it is easy. Easy like a Sunday morning. If there are two of you and you plan on opening two bottles, this will be the better bottle. This should not be the bottle you drink when you are blotto. The first thought that comes to mind... This wine is smokey. 15 minutes into the wine... The smell is out of this world. A little bit of anise (snuff? Let's dry this out and turn it into a powder.) I would pour this on the floor mats of my car so I could smell this everyday. Coffee? umhmm Coffee. Comforting, not that complex. But, there is still that one scent that could not be identified. Sea air or salt? That is it! You are a genius... an evil genius. "Can't you go to a 92?" "No, judged all alone it is a 90. I could maybe go to a 92 if I had a series of wines to judge." Rating now: 90-90-92 This is a French movie with no French in it. No blood, no gore, no guts... why is it good? The story is so good. There is no dialog but you know exactly what is going on.

Totally inoffensive. Are you sick of being disappointed by Pinots? This is excellent. Wonderful balance, excellent body. Almost trite. But not trite because it is so damn good.

Tasted blind at Vintage Wines, Ltd. Bottle provided by Erik Miller. Bright disc. Medium-to-deep ruby with red rim. Clean nose, showing moderately intense plum, cherry, spice and underbrush aromas (with just a hint of Brett). Medium-bodied on the palate, with good acidity, medium sweet tannins and similar flavors as for the nose. Long, smooth finish.

Ripe red fruit on nose. Big flavors of red cherry and raspberry to start with a simple middle, short finish. Pleasant and consistent from beginning to end, but nothing particularly exciting. Drink in the next 2-4 years.

Drank with the 1998. The 98 was even better.

Winery: Higher notes, feels light bodied after lots of cab; “rose, earth, vanilla”; I prefer the PN Napa.
