Pnp. Perfect cork. Deep mulberry red colour. Wonderful nose bursting with garrigue, warm spiced back fruit and plum compote, sandalwood and minerals. Just lovely! Medium bodied, smooth tannins, dried fruit extract, balancing acidity, hidden alcohol and a long, dry finish. Beautifully balanced! Flavours of those same spiced black fruits and plums, sandlewood, chalky minerals, light sous bois and black mulch. More time sees it fleshing out and building to a crescendo at the finish. Eminently quaffable! This is in a great place right now! Easy 93 points!

Final bottle from a full case, last consumed about 10 mos ago. Showing fully resolved tannins, lots of tertiary notes but surprisingly, still some black and red fruit flavors alongside mint, anise, tar, cooking spices, and meaty notes. Firm acidity keeps the older wine alive and interesting, but I would drink this sooner than later if you like a little fruit in your CdR. What a value.

Lovely stuff as ever. Rich nose but lighter palate. Some kirsch but it lifts later to be more herbal with some wildness from the Mourvedre. Clean but soulful - a hard balance to strike.

Silky on the palate, medium length, wonderful balance of fruit showing a prominent Mourvèdre profile. Kept in wine cabinet at 60° for 5 years and I think is drinking perfectly now. Could stay in storage for a couple more years. Pairing of duck leg confit with blackberry gastrique and collard greens. Wow. I don’t think I’ve paired something so beautifully. 92 points. Cheers!

This remains a very cheerful, fruit-driven wine with substantial acid lift and mineral depth. More red fruit than some vintages, better acidity and freshness, yet a serious wine with real length, mineral depth, and quite youthful at 6.5 years. It doesn't beat you over the head with its power, but it's there - subtly cloaked in that alluring fruit and mineral. Floral lavender notes, some garrigue, a tad sappy in the best possible way. It has the raspberry and herbal notes of Grenache, the floral and darker fruits - and a hint of olive perhaps - from Syrah.

Really excellent after a slow start. Def needed a couple of hours of air. as was a little shrill and acidic to start. Then classy, understated and classic. Not too much of anything except a sense of place. Mid weight, herbal and red-fruited. Yum.

Lovely deep burgundy colour, moderately opaque. Very Coudoulet nose bursting with purple fruit, garrigue, light patchouli and a hint of licorice and tar. Very smooth in the mouth. Medium bodied, nicely balanced acidity, subtle fruit extraction, soft and supple tannins. The flavours are soft and sweet purple fruits, nothing overripe or too crunchy with acidity. Feels perfectly balanced and effortlessly confident. This is just a lovely, easy sipper that is delicious and well above average quality.

good wine from prime French producer of excellent CDP. This wine vineyard comes from across the street from famous Beaucastel CDP vineyards. Some bottle age here, could do for another couple of years Doesn't quite have the terroir nose of the bigger brother, still with full mouth feel, refined fruit of plums and blackberries, some tart cherry as well. Had with Indian food. Quite good

Gorgeous dark ink color. Nose of brooding dark fruit (blackberry, dark cherry) with a bit of dill and anise, along with wet forest floor. Full body, medium acid and tannins silky with a long, mouth-coating finish. Drank on its own but would be a terrific food wine, pairing equally well with rich pasta dishes as with red meat. It really hit its stride after being open for over an hour so must decant to really enjoy.

First bottle from a full case. PnP and enjoyed with a spicy chicken and pasta dish. Bright and lively black and red fruits with prominent peppery spice, anise, and a "poured over rocks" quality that was just so delicious and food-friendly. Not a fan of most CdP, but for what it's worth, I think this is gorgeous. Black pepper, raspberry, warm, crushed minerals. It's also quite serious for Cotes du Rhone, with high acids and a notable tannic presence. Should improve for at least a few more years. Would take this over a lot of over-inflated rhone wines.

This Côtes du Rhone, mostly granache, was rather thin and uninspired by my reckoning. The color was a nice translucent medium garnet. But seemed to lack texture and backbone. Low acidity and low tannin with a jammy, fruity flavor profile. While I love Ch. Beaucastel CDP's I have never really enjoyed this bottling very much. I'm not sure how much air this got before pouring, perhaps it would have put on some weightier elements with a longer time to breathe?

Weekly tasting group RWP #245: Rhône; Perrin (@ BS): Ruby red. Beautiful bouquet with ripe red and dark berries and garrigue. Same on the palate, thyme, tobacco, a sweet start, beautiful acidity, round tannin and good bitterness. Several layers. Overall a full bodied, elegant and somewhat classical wine. Still too young. Wait until 2020 at least. 89 – 90 for today.

Rule the Rhone; 10/27/2016-11/3/2016 (Northern & Southern Rhone): Felt like this could use more time - maybe 5 years. It's young. Leaves and twigs and some oak. Again a bit of hints of bitter. When we first had it, the wine was interesting and alright, but then we had the standard Beaucastel and something about the additional varietals seemed to make the wine that much more pulled together and elegant.
