In 2017 I recommended holding this very good Villages wine for 4-5 more years. That's probably still optimal but this bottle, over the last two evenings, was very enjoyable, seemingly even better than last year's one. Descriptors from my previous TN hold. There are red fruited perfumes with raspberries, red cherries and a little cranberry, plus some Gevrey signature wild berry and funk. There is also earth and a little tobacco. In the mouth there is a good volume of bright, primary berry fruit. Also Gevrey sauvage and savoury tones, earth and smoky, barbequed meats. Palate coating. Old vines fruit volume and sappiness (many vines 70+ years old I understand). Plenty of tannic structure in evidence, but spherical, not rustic tannins. Harmonious and balanced with good precise acidity. (92+)

Wow ... this was drinking surprisingly well ! Very complex and open nose with a liqueur-like expression of black and red fruit,violets,spices and subtle smoky minerality.Silky texture on the palate.Wonderful concentration and length for a village wine.You definitely get the old vines complexity in this bottle.Better than many 1er crus.

This year, this is a top quality Villages level Burg. Red fruited perfumes, raspberries, red cherries and a little cranberry, plus some Gevrey signature wild berry and funk. Also earth and a suggestion of high toned violets. Plenty of bright, primary berry fruit on the palate. Also Gevrey sauvage, earth and smoky, barbequed meats. Palate coating. Old vines fruit volume and sappiness (many vines 70+ years old I understand). Plenty of tannic structure in evidence, but spherical, not rustic tannins. Harmonious and balanced with good precise acidity. Best on the initial pop and pour, after about 10 minutes. Even 3-4 hours later it had begun to shut down. Bury it for a minimum of 4-5 years in the cellar.

A taste of many 2014 wines - village to grand cru - from Gevrey Chambertin (Roi Chambertin, Gevrey Chambertin): An excellent village level in 2014. Bright fruit, tannic spine and opulence all in one lovely bottle of wine. Do not hesitate.
