  • Not for me. Great texture. Tremendous fruit. Not a lot of interest though. This is a unique wine for certain.

  • Double decanted and drank after 2 hours. Deep red color, huge nose of dark fruit, wood and some alcohol. The wine has tremendous fruit, good acidity, smooth tannins, oak and an amazing long finish. Drinking beautifully.

  • @Liteitonfire Birthday dinner at Giussepe's in Scottsdale. Simply stunning! This is the very first 100pt score I have ever given. The balance is perfection. Secondary and tertiary even coming out at this stage. Smoke, tobacco, spice, a bit of mint and oodles of dark brooding fruits. The creamy tannins created such a luxurious mouthfeel.

  • Decanted and served. Wine has come together nicely and is well balanced. Fresh with beautiful fruit pop. On the palate, wine has the silky body and finish that I associate with Hundred Acre. In drinking window that will likely last 5-10 years. Easy to drink and went down quick.

  • Chocolate nibs, cacao, bitter chocolate, slight raisiny, earthy. This was ok. Came in 7th by the group. DD Napa Cabs blind at Michaels

  • Does a CS get any better than this one? Not according to my palate. Bold aromas of violets, blackberries, blueberry pie, licorice and crushed rocks. Well-balanced yet powerful flavors of black cherries and plum, some cassis, and spice. Others noted bluberries and dark chocolate. Silky tannins and a 30 to 45-second finish!

  • Opened for 3 hours
Milk chocolate, blueberry, a lot of chocolate, lots of blue fruit. Fruit abound. Round with silk tannins. Not as amazing as previously drunk bottles. A bit over hyped IMO. Still a great wine, just not worth the price tag.

  • Very smooth medium bodied wine. The fruit is a little on the thin side so you have to be patient. Lovely nose with the fruit exhibiting an unusually fresh scent. The palate is sophisticated with secondary characteristics. I find a combination of cherry candy, red raspberry, and blue fruits. At 15.5% alcohol one would think the wine might be hot, but the hundred acre Ark is smooth and resolved like a fine French pomerol. This is a wine that you do not want to rush. It is best to sip without dinner and ponder just on its own.

  • 13 years of bottle aging was totally worth having waited from my 1st tasting ~9 years ago. The 2007 Hundred Acre Ark is drinking incredibly well enough for me to give it One of my few best ratings. This wine is so smooth, supple tannins, a waft of very pleasant barnyard, very pleasant aromas to the nose, pleasing, but nothing heavy, which makes it hard to identify these great mouthwatering stirrings in the mouth. The grapes are so well integrated at this time, and not overpowering; the high alcohol content is not even perceptible. The bottle was finished last night, but the bottle aromas today are still incredible as I am now moving it to the trash. Looking forward to sharing with friends that truly appreciate great wine!

  • Definitely has resolved since my last bottle in 2015. Still young but beginning to enter the drinking window. Huge blue fruits on the nose and initial palate. Full body with great balance and long finish. Will likely warrant a higher rating with more age.

  • This one is just getting better with age. Drinking very well now and tastes like summertime in a bottle.

  • Decanted 4+ hrs, and exploded even on first pour into decanter. On drinking with filet dinner, was stupendous balance, smooth and elegant, with great fruit intensity balanced by nice acidity and strong hints of spice and fragrant woods. Opulent without being overbearing, extremely flavorful without too much fruit. And perfectly paired to our beef filets. Probably could develop a bit more complexity in a few years, but is drinking beautifully and near perfect now. Yum.

  • Decanted 2 hours and drank over the next 2 hours. Continued to improve as time went on. Will wait another 2-3 years before trying the next one.

  • This is in a transition from "classic napa" to more of a grand cru in the tasting profile. When drinking next to '09 Scarecrow this had less fruit and more earth tones. No longer a huge, thick, and indulgent wine, it has evolved into a more refined and gentle wine.

I am much more in agreement with RickyT12 review from 8/26/17.

  • From mag. Decanted several hours - needed days. This wine needs a lot more time. Was a huge wine. Loads of dark fruits, wood, alcohol and very Cali in style. Would like to see some more nuance and complexity. Right now very primary. Seemingly a v long life ahead. Fun to drink.

  • I'm torn. This is a decidedly special wine, but I'm not ready to bow down and proclaim it extraordinary, as it is merely very good to me.

The wine opened up over a five hour period, but the bottle is empty and I think it may have further improved if I'd saved some for tomorrow. Anyway, this properly stored wine at 10 years post-bottling is garnet colored with no sediment in the bottle and slow legs. It has aromas of fig, black currant, blackberry, vanilla, and black pepper. On the palate, it is BIG and a bit oaky, with firm tannins. It tastes of the same black currant, raisin, and red currant, but also a strong black pepper "heat" on the finish that makes me question the 15.5% ABV level. The body is medium/full with a smooth texture and long finish.

  • Decanted for 30 minutes which was not long enough. Really nice floral notes. It was excellent after another 30 minutes in the glass. Paired great with 120 dry aged New York steak.

  • Decanted.
    Wow!
    Big nose. Super well rounded.
Blueberry, green pepper, milk chocolate, prune, plum, a bit of iron or vegetable, iodine , cotton candy all nose.
Alcohol is very well integrated. In a great place right now. Blueberry, dried prune, well rounded, hints of coffee. Really great stuff. I am not sure more age can make it any better. Amazing wine, was missing some transitions to make it perfect, but about as good a cali Cab can get in my opinion.

  • There was not agreement across the table on this wine. However, I was very impressed. Deep black fruits in the nose and flavor, black raspberries and chocolate in the nose with some earthiness. The wine had good structure, complexity, and was very well balanced.

  • Dark red in color. Took to a restaurant , had to do PNP, but did consume over two hours. Drank with a variety of French cheese , pates, and appetizers as well as a main dish. Red fruit dominated the palate - cherry, red raspberry, and red currants. Lightly oaked, great intensity of flavors, perfect acidity, and mature tannins. Drinking beautifully now, clearly not old, but I don't see how this could be any better by keeping it longer.

  • Jam packed full of raspberry, good minerality, vanilla/oak, sweet fruit (but not residual sugar). Wonderful. Big bold Cali cab.

  • Wednesday night horizontal -- Hundred Acres 07' (Kayli Morgan, Deep Time, Ark). Such 3 wonderful animals. It's quite a privilege to experience 3 top notch bottles from the same hands, same weather and same general surrounding. Being able to strip away the typical age, maker and terroir differences really exposes the more nuanced differences between these bottles. Ark is the lighter, fruitier and sexier of the three and wife's favorite. It's more forward nature makes it absolutely a good bottle to be popping right now. Kayli Morgan is the most serious of the three, and perhaps the most backward. Deep Time is the most intense, sort of an opposite of Ark. It's overt intensity and expressive tannins however may suggest a shorter maturing window comparing to Kayli Morgan. So, enjoy Ark (96), experience Deep Time (96) and lock away Kayli Morgan (98).

  • Wow nice strong, but not too crazy nose
Blueberry, cream, crumbled flower, black berry, whip cream, dried candied prune, a bit mint all nose, very California, but the years have mellowed it out quite a bit. Flavors blueberry pie, whip cream, black berry, black currant, tobacco, almost an ink type character on flavor. Very round profile. Maybe a decant would help. Acid medium plus, weight medium.Very good wine, but was expecting a bit more.

  • Very smooth and silky feel in the mouth. Deep garnet look and lots of big ripe juicy red fruits in the mouth. This is a very complex wine and in some ways it seemed more concentrated at this stage in the bottle than it did earlier in its life. Hard to explain. Drank this Ark with seafood and by itself several hours after we opened it. Truly is a special wine.

  • After a 2 hour decant, expressed a massive nose similar to the tastes, found it very alluring with soft tannins, dark fruit, loam and chocolate followed by a coffee chaser. Great now, but I have no doubts this will get even better with age.

  • 100+++
Would expect nothing less than complete perfection front 100 Acre and Jason Woodbridge...Have NEVER been disappointed by any wine he has made.
Happened to have the honor to meet him, by coindencedense in Dean and Deluca a few years back...The Earnest Hemingway of winemaking...Also bought a bottle the"The Duke" Brandy, what an Honor as I bought it literally off his truck (1 of 5 bottles).

  • I'm not normally a fan of Hundred Acre, as I find the wines often to be over the top. This bottle was an exception. OK, there was a lot of oak in the wine. But once past the overt vanilla notes, the texture was lush, the abundant levels of fruit were sweet, ripe and fresh. The concentrated wine felt silky and opulent as it hit your palate.

  • WOTN. This is a big, bold Cabernet. Dark inky look to it. Tannins have subsided but still are present. Taste was lots of red ripe fruits with a hint of chocolate. Finish was never ending-at least 45 seconds to a minute. Everyone loved this wine and the bottle was empty in no time. This vintage just keep getting better and better!

  • Great Cabernet!! Decanted 5 hours; mini tastes during decant and some trepidation, and still took another hour in the glass before ready, and all of a sudden, WOW. Very subtle wine that just snuck up on us; it's hard to say exactly what was so great other than it was a cornucopia of all things great about cabernet; nothing was overwhelming in particular except that it was truly a perfectly balanced wine, great/dark but subtle fruits, a little forest floor on the nose, velvety tannins, very long, mouthwatering finish....

  • Full bodied. Rich, opulent Cabernet. Reasonably balanced, with good underlying structure, and a fair amount of finishing tannins. None of the porty notes that can mar many Cali wines. This is drinking quite well today.

  • Opened and decanted for about 2.5 hours. Black and blue fruits lead the way as the wine throttles your palate, and envelopes your senses. I was expecting a littler more out of the wine, especially as RP rates this 100, but it was certainly a delicious cabernet. I would recommend holding if you have any for another year or so. 97+ points

  • Hundred Acre just Rocks!!! Fabulous wine. Very long and silky finish, but a complex nose. Never have met a Hundred Acre I did not like. Had this wine with Hawaiian-Asian Fusion food and the Ark was very complimentary to the food. This just improved more and more over dinner. Even the in-laws commented that this was a good bottle of wine. Looking forward to more of this vintage.

  • Had this house favorite with our 2013 Thanksgiving dinner at The Grace Bay Club in TC, West Indies. It is a crowd pleaser as always and will still benefit from years in the cellar but it comported itself well and was the hit of the night.

  • Great bouquet, silky soft, well integrated and balanced; unexpected soft tannins for a young Howell Mountain cabernet; long finish. I was blown away that it was so smooth after a couple of hours of decanting in the restaurant. I'm giving it a 95 for now, because while it was outstanding, I felt it is still awakening and needing more cellar time. I look forward to the next bottle to help me move that number much further north.

  • I went into this with high expectations and wasn't let down. Everything is there: power, elegance, complexity, and length. This may be a 100 but I need to give room for a wine to floor me. Unique nose of leather, earth, aged fruit, and maybe a touch of Cuban cigar. Explodes in your mouth like a "new era" CA wine, but isn't of that realm. This is elegant and extremely complex. The wine matched the nose, all of the same elements unfold as you hold it in your mouth. The finish never ended and left you wanting another taste. Excellent wine!!!

  • WOWOWOWOWOW!!! Elegant and restrained but still young--I'll let the rest of my bottles sleep for at least another five years.

  • I was very disappointed in this wine for the cost. Some structure but you had to search for it. There was no real presence except for gravelly tannins, like walking barefoot on concrete. Some promise of better times ahead, but tonight was not one of them. Based on the other notes I was expecting a lot more.

  • Am I missing something? This bottle didn't perform well at all. It was SO soft, no tannin or structure to think of...very blousy wine and generic and simple to my taste. Young Napa Cab, whether over the top or traditional, should have something going for it at this early of a stage in it's life. I guess i will chalk it up to a "dumb" phase, but I honestly don't know if this can get better. It has no backbone in which to improve upon...I would have been happy if this were $20, but $250?

  • Drank with dinner along with Wade & Kellina. Wonderfully complex and well balanced. Dark in color with a medium body. Graphite and cassis come through on the palate. Very pleasant, and long finish of longer than a minute.
    Excellent California Cab.

  • hard to describe how this wine could be better. Popped and took a tiny taste, the flavor slowly envelopes your mouth and the finish grows bigger and bigger. we thought it was surprisingly approachable upon opening it up so we recorked it and waited to decant it until right before dinner. Nose was not overpowering. very classic cassis, graphite and red fruits. taste: howell mountain but not overly tannic - extremely well balanced, the tiniest sip goes a long way with this wine. after it had been open for 4 hours when we were on the last sips of the wine it began to chill just a little bit. this wine will last a while but don't be afraid to try it now.

  • 85;79. The lightest and most mature looking young Cab I’ve ever seen. Same as last bottle. Still, mouthfeel is very thick and it is a very full-bodied wine. Intense floral notes and higher fruits. Intense and exotic. The wine was like it was alive, spicy, tingeling, dancing on the palate. Also an ashy, campfire note. Very long, lingering aftertaste. Lynn felt it may have been a bit too delicious but I loved it. On the aftertaste it was so floral it almost turned to soapy notes sometimes.

  • Ruby Red - pop and pour. Nose gave generous amounts of dark fruits, red berries. Lush mouthfeel, almost envelopes your entire tongue. Explosion of fruits everywhere. Extremely long finish. not terribly focused at this point, infantcide with no secondary characteristics. We could probably wait for a few more years. A great experience....one of the better cult cabs I've had recently.

  • This night on blind tasting came in very close #2 behind Bryant Family 07 and ahead of 2007 Château Boswell Cabernet Sauvignon Jacquelynn Beckstoffer To-Kalon. Fun night of comparing 2007 Napa Cabs
