A bit of development with a hint of mushroom - probably an effect of the grey rot conditions during harvest 2014, even if there was serious sorting. Light-bodied and off-dry (around 13 g/l) residual) with green apple, lime and wet stone flavours. Very good indeed, but all in all not the best version of Senior for keeping. Last bottle of '14, and we're on to the fab '15!

Followed over two days. First day was a bit harsh but second was beautiful with awesome acidity, lime fruit and slatey structure. Lively with a touch of effervescence.

Man oh man this is the real deal. This may be the most downright delicious, fantastic white wine I've ever had. Bright orchard fruits with melon and white flowers paired with crazy lively acidity and just a suggestion of sweetness on the finish make this wine perfect for anything spicy---but really it would go well with just about anything you might drink white wine with. So refreshing and so delicious and for $25 an unbelievable bargain in Riesling.

Ai Fiori's Ornellaia/Masseto dinner (Ai Fiori (Langham Hotel on 5th Ave)): Also from the by the glass menu at Ai Fiori, this was drunk next to the Etna Rosato and the Etna Rosato stole the show. While it was dry and crisp and clean, this had the sweet characteristics with just a touch less acidity than I'd have liked to have seen.

Rieslingfeier Grand Tasting (New York City, NY): From magnum. Quite dry. Very bright in stature, with acids that are just right for the wine. I felt that this could have benefitted from a little bit more residual sugar though.

Fabulous tension, steely, and mineraly. Bracing acidity that is balanced by just enough sweetness to allow the enjoyment of the acidity without finding it overwhelming. It leaves a nice (pleasant) bitter note on the finish that keeps things interesting. This is going to be a lovely wine to follow for the next few decades.

Very tasty wine with Thanksgiving turkey, squash and stuffing. Great grapefruit, lemon pith, and minerality to cut through the rich meal. Crowd-pleaser.

Another killer vintage of this fantastic dry Riesling. This has it all with big acidity and lovely balance. It tasted so good, the bottle was drained very quickly.

A step up in quality from the Barrel X. This has more weight but is still gulpable. Perfect mix of minerality, sweetness and acidity. Amazing value.

Day 1 in the Mosel - Peter Lauer & Hofgut Falkenstein (Mosel Saar Ruwer - Germany): From barrel. Fresh, peachy nose. Technically a dry/off-dry wine there’s a bit of softness from the residual sugar that’s very nice. Retains the intensity and cut of Lauer’s dry wine with a bit of lushness. Definitely hits the mark for me.
