Extremely pleased with this spur of the moment selection at Morton’s Steakhouse in Hong Kong. When passed the wine list without warning and asked to choose for the table - some didn’t know wine and all were ordering various cuts of meat - I had a quick anxiety attack and then got to work searching for an economical, easy drinking, ready-to-go bottle and St. Super did not disappoint.
No decant necessary for this pop and pour. Exuberant fruit on the nose including cherry, red currant, blueberry. Wafts of vanilla. Palate mimicked nose with a sweet yummy acidity, very integrated tannins (surprise), and well balanced. Medium body, medium finish - was left def left wanting more which is a knock for and against I suppose.
If you are looking for a reasonably price ready to drink Napa cab to hold up against various cuts of steak, this is definitely worth considering. Noting the drinking window listed here is already set to expire and finding the tannins so well integrated now, I don’t know how long this might last. Drink up!

Pretty nose of black fruits, and vanilla. Super tasty and fruit forward on palate without being too sweet. Loads of dark plums and blackberries, espresso, mocha and dry dusty tannins plus medium acidity finish. The 2015 is Tasting well in 2020!

This remains the same as 6 months ago. Fruit forward Blueberries, blackberries and mocha blended together. This still needs 4 hours of a decant to really be fully open and hit its potential.

Excellent bold Cab. blackberry oak with a cherry pepper finish. Fruits and tannins are well balanced. Perfect steak wine. Very good Cab for the money. Would definitely buy again.

Strong oak profile creates sweet, dessert scents of chocolate mousse, raspberry cheesecake. Top note of strawberry. The oak is just very proliferative right now, so I would recommend waiting 5 years.

Fruitier bold Cabernet. Mocha/cassis blended with blackberries/blueberries. Nice value for Cabernet at its upper $20s price point. Took a 3 hour decant to open up fully.

Brief tasting during a walk around of California Wineries, Montreal.
Black fruit, chocolate, grainy tannins but everything feels separated and nothing really integrated, the finish is poor as well, acceptable but nothing more

Medium bodied, with a soft, forward, open character, leaning to the bright, red berry side of the style range. You should be able to enjoy this on release.

Still needs 3 hour decant to really show tannins and structure. Sweet for first 3 hours before getting there. Call it blackberries into mocha.

Good but bit too fruity on first glass to be worth buying again. Would prefer duckhorn for a bit more. Drank the 2015 on august 2022

Remarkably mature tasting, soft and approachable, but still interesting and very good.

Nice ripe sweet fruits. Menthol on the finish. Lacks finesse and freshness for my taste. Wife liked it a lot more.
