Pours medium ruby - on the nose rich dark fruits and baking spice jump out of the glass, on the palate the fruit is moderated nicely by a very high level of acid and medium tannin. The 14.5% alcohol is very well hidden in the balance
Stylistically this drinks lighter than many Zinfandel and is not a “fruit bomb” despite the presence of abundant delicious RRV fruit. Well balanced if a bit high on acid at the moment (I do enjoy high acid in a wine and take it that this will age well). Absolutely delicious wine and refreshing take on Zinfandel.
Edit on day 2: The wine is overpoweringly tart today - I’m not sure what to make of this besides revising the score down a few points and just kind of scratch my head.

Purchased from retail (K&L) so hopefully the provenance was solid. Drinking off a PNP, this wine was so tart that no one could drink it. We revisited the wine an hour later with the same result. Joseph Swan is renowned for RRV pinot and zinfandel so not sure what the issue is here. Will likely pour the balance of the bottle

Sour note at the finish. Unique flavor.
