On pnp this was very lively with bright cherry, after 2 hours of slow ox this velvety deliciousness and stayed that way for several hours. I’m glad I have one more puppy of this one.

Slo-oxed for 10 minutes but this wine needs more air time. Nice aromas of red fruit with a touch of garrigue. The medium bodied palate showed the red fruits (strawberry/cherry/cranberry), along with touches of mint and herbs. The acidity was bright and balanced. Should hold into next year.

Absolutley prime-time drinking right now. Typical D&R bright fruit but slightly toned down at this point without losing any of the magic. Not a rough edge to be found (not that there ever is), but this is soooo easy to love. Drink now. Like... literally right now.

Bright red fruited nose, flavors of strawberry, red cherry and hints of sour cherry and sourdough. Low acidity, no tannins. This is very nice, light and fruity and no noticeable oak influence. Drank over 3.5 hours without any appreciable changes. I feel like this wine really excels at the red fruit flavors without being too over the top.

California Dreamin' - Double Blind - Zin/PS/Cab - 70's - 2009: Brief notes - warm-up bottle before blind tasting. Great as always. Delicious/easy drinking/medium-bodied/red-fruited goodness.....but complex enough to keep it interesting. The group had never had a D&R wine before and were all really impressed. Pure happiness in a bottle.

This was interesting. Definitely a wine for near-term consumption, as they recommend, as it is already starting to taste quite a bit older than its 2 years post harvest. I have no real frame of reference for mourvedre, but the closest recently tasted wine I could compare it to was a cru beaujolais with a little age from a rich year (ie 09). I did enjoy it, and the dark fruits and nice acidity went well with food, I just need to drink up the rest.

Second time trying this bottling and the extra year definitely helped. Perfect serving temperature by using the Kelvin K2 Wine Thermometer, really made a big difference. Light to medium garnet red. Beautiful nose with notes of lilacs, spices, red berries and twigs. Medium tannins (5/10) and solid acidity. Light plus to medium bodied. Crushed floral notes on the palate with a touch of earthiness, dried cherries, raspberries, herbal notes, strawberries and rhubarb. Long finish. Drink till 2022.

This is really kicking right now (Aug 2017), in perfect harmony. Y'all gonna think I'm crazy but I'm getting a mezcal-like smoky/herbal thing going on the nose. Then the light cherry raspberry fruit hits the tongue with a nice edge of acidity and more herbal back notes - thyme? A touch of cocoa powder? Loving it.

Disagree with most of the other notes -- we got more spice and dark fruit than high toned berry flavor. Nose remained closed for hours. Palate opened up to something cloudy (matching the visual), unshaven, strong, but very approachable. Seemed more powerful than sub 13 alc content would suggest. Hefty body. Well paired with BBQ pulled pork and usual accompaniments. I would buy this again and have no idea how it will age.

Consistent with my last note, but on opening this one showed reductive aromas and a bit of spritz. The old anti-reduction trip of vigorously sloshing the wine between two decanters 10 or 20 times and giving the wine some air did the trick and all the reduction was gone and the wine was back to its friendly red-fruited delicious self.

I really expected to like this, I figured it was pretty close to a slam dunk for me, but I've gotta admit, I didn't love it. For the price, I'm not sure I even liked it. Certainly light and bright, but I found it lacking any structure or focus. I don't know that there's any carbonic maceration involved here, a cursory poke around suggests no, but the nose has a carbonic-like element that in this case I found unpleasant. Most comparable to a beaujolais, as many have noted, but without the acid, tannin, or structure of the good ones. For half the price, give me a Coudert any day. For a similar price, Foillard every time.

Light, red fruited. If tasted blind I'd have guessed beaujolias. Enjoyable wine but it feels like it should be in the low $20 price point like some other CA producer's non-single-vineyard offerings.

Well this thru me for a loop...my brain is in a bit of a pretzel here, unlike any Mourvedre ive tasted. Quite the contrary really, this looks, smells and tastes like gamay (Beaujolais), i was expecting big dry purple fruit. Ummmm so...light cloudy red in the glass. Hard candy, strawberry, smoke, jam, very floral on the nose. Light and crisp throughout to palate. Easy drinker, wish it wasnt 20 degrees out. Light red berries, strawberries, raspeberries, white pepper, brambly, florals, more hard candy. Confused....

This wine is a confluence of the two ( and tastes like neither) and is extraordinary if you are impressed with leanness and unimpressed with Parkerization and overripeness. P&p. Smells like bright marginally ripe red fruit, sage/chaparral, soft smoke, and dry rocky earth. Similar flavors, with tart citrusy/cranberrylike acidity. Citrus peel, especially towards the finish. Very light bodied. Drinkable and refreshing, tasty, and full of character. If blind I might guess good entry level Burgundy or Oregon (or German) Pinot Noir; shows what I know. In any case good stuff, although an ambiguous value at $30.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Alpharetta, GA): Cloudy dull purple, see through, light rim; high toned nose, medicinal, young and fruity, Beaujolais-esque, carbonic, candied, fresh, good acid; called domestic Carignan done by carbonic, something somms would love.

Color -Light garnet, cloudy. Aroma -Very alcohol hot (Used venturi and decanted about 60 min -Still very alcohol hot). Some red berries underneath, raspberry, strawberry, but alcohol nose overwhelms. Mouthfeel -Slightly tannic, slick and soapy, sharp tartness. Flavor -Overwhelmingly tart, raspberry, pomegranate, but not much depth, one dimensional. Very tart. Paired poorly with sausage, cheese & crackers w/Pate. No interest in drinking this wine again.

So easy drinking and food friendly. This tastes a lot better than the note reads.... On opening there was a really compelling strawberry / raspberry nose and taste. Over the evening, the fruit faded to the background and was outshined by a bretty note - struck match, bit of barnyard. Still - great refreshing acidity and a barely ripe strawberry base underneath the funk.

Eric S is right on--this doesn't match your typical profile to garner outstanding scores. But it sure is outstanding: delicious, utterly drinkable, versatile, involved, and full of graceful energy.
We bought a bottle because Nanette loved the glass she had at Tartine. After crushing that bottle tonight we ordered six more plus three of the '14 for good measure.

Second vintage of the FAMILIAR Mourvedre we have tried. Wine is a garnet red with a slight purplish hue with a moderate intensity. Lovely nose starting off a bit smokey with some raspberries and purple floral notes. Some cherry cola undertones that is very fresh and inviting. Day two this wine showed some dried herbs, flowers and smoked berries. Moderate tannins with a moderate plus acidity and light bodied. Palate started off with some unripe strawberries and some savory herbs. Definitely some dark unripe berries too, perfect for a hot summer day. Good texture and refreshing. Long and lingering finish that keeps changing. Drink till 2018.

If you look at Dirty & Rowdy's tasting notes, you'll see a higher than normal number of reviews without scores. I think a lot of people don't know what to make of this wine, because it is definitely different.
This was decanted for about 3 hrs. Appearance - cloudy ruby Nose - first thing is this earthy, granite, followed up by seedy raspberry and maybe orange peel. Palate - big time fresh strawberry, wet rocks. Light + bodied. A bit earthy, then back to bright fruits. Black cherry in the mix. The fruit is so distinctive that it's almost jammy, but energetic at the same time. Acidity is there, but not at all tart for me. Fades to a smoother than expected finish. Loved it!

First experience with this wine and it was quite surprising can't say I've come across such a fun easy drinking young Mourvèdre like this before, pretty expressive nose of dark raspberry,, dark sweet cherry and an almost pavement type mineral profile, fruit is a touch more tart on the light bodied palate with lovely acidity keeping it fresh

** Given a 30 minute decant, per the winery's suggestion. C: Dark red N: Earth and raspberries P: Light, fresh and enjoyable. Cheerful! Lighter and less structured than the Shake Ridge, but compelling all the same. Fruit and acid in the fore with good length and balance, flavor consistent over the length. Carefully made, a pretty wine. 2nd bottle, 11/18/16: Fresh, bright and drinking beautifully. Consistent wit the 1st bottle. Didn't seem to need decanting, I just pnp'd. And that was on the day of delivery! 3rd bottle 3/20/17 Consistent with first two. Fourth and last 5/1/17 PnP again. Just singing. This is just so drinkable! Hard to put the glass down.

Nose: The nose is fragrant and cool from the get go with strawberries, dark red berries, red florals, and some savory tones.
Taste: Medium/light bodied with silky tannins and medium acidity. The structure is on the lighter side along with a fresh take to the tones of strawberries, dark rd berries, red florals, and a touch of herbal notes.
Overall: This is a fun wine. Its purpose is to be earlier and easier drinking and this fully accomplishes that.

Complex and jammy without being sweet. Substantial but not heavy. Delicious enough to drink all summer long.

Appearance - cloudy ruby
Nose - first thing is this earthy, granite, followed up by seedy raspberry and maybe orange peel.
Loved it!

Nice way to start a long weekend. Cool red fruit, a bit of chalky tannin, and a fresh, spicy finish. This is just plain fun.

Given a 30 minute decant, per the winery's suggestion.
C: Dark red
N: Earth and raspberries
P: Light, fresh and enjoyable.
3rd bottle 3/20/17
Consistent with first two.
Fourth and last 5/1/17
PnP again.
