Needed some time to show its fruit. The nose was quite complex. On the palate, it lacked concentration, with while the balance was actually good. Typical smoky, ash flavors. Not so long finish. Won't improve in bottle at this stage -so drink up!

Dinner at Maria's -- showing a bit leaner and tougher next to a flashy Gigondas, but still a great wine and excellent with food. Sleek dark minerals and bitter chocolate.

Promising nose of smoke and dark fruits. Nice flavor (leather, plum) and balanced acidity, but dissapointing short finish. That is, until we paired it with lamb sausage. Then this wine went from an 86 to a 90! Fabulous the next day, too. Some wines just aren't made to drink naked. All the better at close-out prices.

Lovely nose of blackberries and raspberries. Still quite fruity, but there are signs of maturing in form of skin and leather notes. Lots of raspberries. It's like freshly stirred raspberry jam (in a good way, though I am generally not to fond of wine that smells like jam). The fruits are quite on the red side here. On the palate the style is refreshing and light. Fine tannins that are neither polished nor rough. Not very long. The acid is ok. Ok wine with an atypic but interesting nose.

John's Halloween--nice big ripe syrah notes, with the puzzling citrus in the Bonnefond finishes... chalk it up to "freshness".. not as thick and licoricey as the '03.

Dark and tight, with some citrus elements along with classic roasted meats and licorice... a bit "sour" but better with food.. hmmmmm.. UPDATE--three days later under Vaccuvin--softened considerably and was much more pleasureable

Bought this week so thought I'd try one for 'research'
Decanted about 1 hour. Clear deep red no signs of aging. Fresh ripe fruit on the nose and some bacon fat aromas. Very smooth lush mouthfeel with blackfruits, and some oak. The oak is well integrated and compliments the fruits very well. Long finish when cherry taste is more prominent and the tannins show a little more. Good balancing acidity.
Very enjoyable now, but I think will improve a little more over the next 3 years or so.

Smoky and earthiness. Depth of fruit lacking.

Pruney on the initial sip, but well balanced. Consumed late in the evening, so notes are vague.

Mid to light bodied, not much mouth feel, muted fruit, maybe some earth and smokiness, a little dispointing

Licorice, dark chocolate, raspberry and coffee aromas. A juicy, ripe palate with the elements of the wine well integrated. Very good.
