Slow-oxed for two hours. Nice ruby colour showing some development. Nose a bit simple, raspberry. Healthy lively juice, quite tannic, a bit all over the place. Decide to decant.
After decant, youngish fruit-driven profile. Intense mouthfull and very long finish. Way too young. I have two more bottles, I'll let them sit for at least two more years.

Discrete nose with dark cherry, spices and some underbrush. On the palate dense fruit, good acidity and tannic grid to support it. Some of heat on the finish. I am not a Mencia grape specialist, but I find this wine tastes like a Cote du Rhone / CdP blend from a cooler vintage. Solid, but nothing to write home about.

Pretty reserved on the nose, pretty dark fruit, mocca. A bit disappointing. Better in the mouth, good balance, just missing the wow effect after I loved their basic wine.

Beaucoup de fruits, tanins intégrés, bonne longueur, acidité moy-, puissant voire explosif. Pourra tenir 5-10 ans mais dans une belle période déjà je trouve. Délice.

Decanted for 1.5 hours. Dark red color. On nose, caramel, cherry and slate. On palate, cranberry, strawberry, tobacco and a touch of earthy flavors. High acidity, medium tannins, and long finish. Enjoyable, but not a re-buy at this price. Should improve a few points with age I suspect. 91+/-

Medium nose shows dark red fruits, raspberry compote, smoke hint, white pepper, red plum. Palate matches with spice and red fruits, medium body, a rocky feel, cola. Fresh style, dry finish, nice example of the region.

Penya La Verema. Cata nº 289.

One of my haul bottles from my recent visit to madrid, as i have tried Bierzo reds before I do have an expectation, very fresh fragrance of ripe sour cherry, some earthy tones, on the palate attacking with real freshness, despite the high ABV (14%) this one is really animating, midbodied, great refeshing fruit flow, quite harmonic but the suppoting acid in the finish indicates a longer life, enjoy from now on over the next 5(+) years, **(*+ -?), 90,91(+)

Young....mentholated nose dominates green strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, dusty leather....tongue drying tannin, unripe red cherry, raspberry, red apple skin on the palate...I think this needs 3-5 years to integrate

Opened in the bottle for 3 hours plus. Mid weight bright ruby coloring wit unique nose of ultra ripe red fruit accompanied by black tea, basil, and an almost barnyard element. The palate is enjoyable but straightforward and mostly mixed berries intertwined with fresh herbs. Acid and tannin are there but light. Very unique wine that might improve with another year but I’d drink in the next 1-2.

My first experience with this wine having enjoyed multiple bottles of the Petalos; the nose is much bigger with big ripe red and black fruits; lots of spice, black tea, lots of floral notes, and a few hints of earth. The palate is big and bold with great fruit and concentration. Fairly well balanced, but in definite need of age. I think with 5-10 years of age as the tannins integrate and more secondary notes develop this will be stellar.

No formal note, great nose of red fruit and the palate has the right kind of structure to deliver a solid mouthfeel.

Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; Some random wines. (@ RW): Black and red berries in the bouquet and on the palate. Firm acidity and bitterness. Very juicy wine.
