Drank this right after the 95 & 96. Could not keep up with those 2 at all. No one at the party liked this at all. Lots of heat over powering the wine. hard to get anything out of it. Perhaps it needed a long decant to settle down the alcohol or perhaps don't drink the 95 & 96 before you drink this one. Perhaps our taste buds were off after the other 2. But either way I would not choose this vintage.

Drank without decant. This is probably slightly over the peak now. Tannins has all smoothed out. Good aroma, but it is on the light side compared with more recent Lokoya's. On the palate, i do feel it has a half Bordeaux half Cali cab feel. Shaved pencil, cigar box and hay. Finish is subdued.

Sampled 5/28/10. Pop and pour. Over the course of an hour the wine did not change. Nice black currant with tar and tobacco underneath with some pencil lead and overripe green pepper. A very interesting wine. Excellent job in this tough year and the wine is in great form after 11.5 years and probably will be for another 5.

91-92 pts. This is a really good effort for an off vintage. Gorgeous balance. Tastes like a mix between a napa and a bordeaux. In addition to some rip fruit, well balanced by olive, carmel, and slight salinity. I would like to taste one of the great vintages of this wine, which i am sure would be fantastic. This is just slightly more watery than a great vintage.

Very disappointed with this one. Very smooth and robust, but lacked the cali cab flavor that I expect from Lokoya. Decanted for 2 hours and it never quite hit it's stride.

No decant. Drank immediately. Very balanced with dark fruit and a background of earth flavors. Very enjoyable for an off vintage.

Great balance. Really good stuff even on day 2. Outstanding for the vintage. Full bodied and superb balance with nice leather, fruit, herbs, olives.
