Floral, with aniseed, medium density, very pure and bright acidity, salty yellow fruits. Jasmine, meadows and slate. Quite a beautiful poised and balanced wine, everything correct and refined.

Enjoyed at Il Giglio Ristorante in Montalcino, off the wine list. Was really looking forward to this wine, after all the hype as "one of Italy's 4 or 5 best white wines". The wine was properly served at the perfect temperature (not too cold). Floral and chalky mineral notes on the nose. Lemon and crushed rocks, alongside a "stainless steel" quality ont he long and building finish. A serious wine that grew as the night lingered on (a 3 hour dinner). A fantastic value at around €50. Drink now through 2024+.

Tasted at a white truffle dinner. Notes from memory. Fascinating complex nose. Earth, minerals, flowers. Moderately earthy but highly mineral and acidic on palate which helped it slide under the truffles in in a roas/ed sunchoke salad with sorrel, sunflower seeds and parme. Really nice and interesting wine.

Delicious. Citrus, white flowers, only a hint of the (mature) carricante petrol note. Lots of acid. Still tightly wound. I'd wait another year or two for the next bottle.

Was hoping for a bit more given the price. This medium bodied, slightly viscous. Very delicate flavors, somewhat saline. Went well with fish, but wouldn't say worth paying close to 50 dollars just to say you've had a single varietal Carricante.
Flinty, saline components. White fruit like pears, citrus and a nutty component (almond) was detectable as well. Absolutely terroir driven native grape. 80yr old vines grown in cool climate/high elevation.

Benanti Pietramarina Masterclass. Lemon, candied, grapefruit, herb, mint, mineral, irony, verbena. Medium plus flavour intensity, medium plus finish.

A Good Tuesday, Vol. VI: Italians (Benanti, Calafe, Produttori, Cornelissen, D&R, Quintarelli...: We ended up having two Benanti Pietramarina blind, this and the 16 and neither showed well. Just kind of muted and dilute. Nothing really wrong, maybe a bit oxidized, but just rather uninspiring. Dumped into a decanter and didn't really move it much. Weird showing.

Intense, with good acidity. Aromas of ripe apples, but sadly, also TCA.
