Nice balanced CA chardonnay with notes of butter, lemon and a hint of vanilla. A hint of acidity lingers into the finish. Probably drinking well for the next few years.

very happy with how this showed after a handful of disappointing 2015 chardonnays. pale yellow color. good energy, citrus, almond, flowers. good weight while remaining in balance

Golden yellow and slightly foggy in color. Expressive and quite complex nose with a clear mark of sea and limestone. Also a lot of ripe fruit on the nose in quite a tropical direction with pineapple, peach and yellow apples. In addition, some toffee and butter, as well as some unnotes reminiscing of rubber balls which fortunately blows away with air. Medium plus mouthfeel, good fruit concentration, high acidity and a long fruity finish. Quite typical for California, except for the huge sea and limestone character. In itself a good chardonnay, but a little too tropical for me to reach the higher scores.

One of the better Cali chardonnays. More European style. Apple, orchardfruits and lemon confit. A Little butter and mild oak. Enjoyable but not as good as my previous bottle. Not easy to find and not cheap.

From prior notes: "Light(er) gold color. Nose of green apple, citrus fruit, lemon peel, sea air, white flowers. Palate showed orchard fruits, green apple, lemon zest, nectarines, mild butterscotch. Palate is fresh and supple, really great texture on this wine...."
Picked up more saline/oyster shell this time on the nose. Citrus/lemon zest prevalent on the palate. Crisp, lean, lighter styled
Drinking very well, elegant, well made Chardonnay...gets more expressive as it warms a bit in the glass - best to drink from goblets to get full effect. Cliche to say it but Burgundian texture, not typical Calif Chardonnay. Will appeal to those with French leaning plates on white wines... should drink at this level for at least a few more years.

Bright, focused, pear and citrus fruit dominated this impeccably crafted wine. Each sip woke up my palate. Stylistically it was about mid way between the lean Ceritas and richer, but still lively Ramey mold. Drink now or over the next several years.

A cooler year than 2013, but right now it feels a bit strudy and broad, while not lacking elegance. Mandarin and orange blossom with an earthier background and dashes of gunflint. Acidity more subdued than '13, but probably more versatile with food. Needs time.

bright green apple, crisp pear, and a touch of lychee. wonderful minerality and stealy characters - mouth shows more green apple skin, delicate white blossoms, and slight warm brioche. Very tasty!

This is the only white Hirsch produces, from a rock/clay soil 2 miles from the ocean. Has a hint of CA butterscotch but then balance and minerality, really lovely overall. Reminds me of Littorai Chard.

Pale gold color. Smoke on the nose. On the palate: pear, peach, lemon rind, honey suckle. Nice acidity, balance, length. Substantial without the oak being overbearing. Delicious!

very cloudy in the glass. I couldn't find any mention of this in previous CT notes. A bit off putting visually, but wine was quite nice. no rush

Chard is so fresh it seems to disappear in the mouth. Plenty of lift. Mild buttery finish. This will improve with another 2-3 years in the bottle.

Started off beautifully if a bit sweet-oaky California Chardonnay but soon became mostly pineapple and apple.

Straw, lime, faint lemon, honeysuckle, faint butter. This is a lovely Chardonnay. Perfect balance of acidity, fruit; in a word: "finesse."

Will be interesting to see how this wine ages. I suspect it will add some weight and complexity, that said its really great now...
