An excellent example of Napa Merlot. A shame they seem to be tearing out a lot of those vines. Deep rich flavor and color, with mild soft tannins, Perfect drinking now.

black licorice, boysenberry compote, toasty vanilla, juicy palate, blueberries, cedar, big and fleshy, excellent value. Hint of eucalyptus. This is serious merlot. Dark and delicious.

Blind tasting with the group (SLC): Garnet in color with a clean moderately expressive nose. Right off the bat the oak is showing. Red and black fruit that are kind of all over the place, plum, raspberry, cherry. Fruit taste slightly baked and dried out. M+ Tannins, M+ Acid, H alcohol. Slightly smoky and I got a hint of menthol. I thought it was a cabernet from Napa, some others though potentially an oaked Zinfandel with the fruit all over the place the way it was. Not surprised to see the Merlot, it was so plump. Not my style of wine, but honestly for people looking for that Napa Valley big red this is a good qpr...

Scored on day two. Burgundy color. Intriguing aromas of mint, eucalyptus and spice. Saturated, smooth palate. On day one I was picking up some blue fruit with the red fruit, but on day two this was all about succulent red fruit, with some tanginess. There is a savory briarness on the finish. I liked this quite a bit. 90

Crimson red with high intensity core. Nose started off with some cinnamon, slight smokiness, cherry kirsch and a little greenery. A little heat too. More fruit than the Jon Nathaniel on the palate. Some warm baking spices and dark cherries leading to a slightly dry moderate finish. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and moderate body. Drink till 2020.

Very light nose (a little disappointing). Light cinnamon with some dry light brown soil.
Initial attack is light fruit with moderate tannins. (7/10) This was tasted blind initially. Once unveiled, I would describe this as a "bland" Napa merlot. Simple nose, fruity attack,
TO ensure my nose is not mounded stood, a great drinkable enjoyable wine with solid tannins. It might get to 90/91 in the future.

No vegetable/green pepper notes. That's a plus for me.

Had this bottle with Thanksgiving turkey and it held up well to all the flavors. Lot of red fruit, some pie type spice and a decent finish.
