Classic fruit-backward Mourvèdre from a site that has been ripped out; but sadly not yet replanted.
Lemongrass, ginger, dried spices (cumin, star anise)What little fruit there is is a good mix of red and dark - Strawberry, black cherry and darker plums. Medium + body, medium tannin. Unique expression of the grape. I say drink this now; and that it won't get any better

-- decanted 1 hr. before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --
NOSE: savory and red-fruited.
BODY: medium-light body. Garnet color of shallow depth with slight bricking throughout.
TASTE: clear; carbonic; medium+ to high acidity; red-fruited; deeply-embedded garrigue note; pine and light cinnamon; quite pleasant; atypically light for Mourvedre, and therefore typical of Dirty and Rowdy. Drink or Hold. Gut impression score: low 90s.

The best D&R I have had. Simply delicious, but with a complexity that requires contemplation. The lightness and balance are ethereal. The antithesis of CA typical wine I am so happy to enjoy a wine going in a better direction.

This is a wine that speaks with great urgency, yet it speaks in a whisper. It commands attention without dominating the conversation. The fruit, spice, earth and mineral elements all play notes in the harmony. This is a particular wine in the Dirty & Rowdy canon, as in fact they all are. It speaks to where it comes from. It speaks its origin in a whisper. The whisper says “Rosewood.”

-- vigorous 2.5 hour decant before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind on Day 1 and Day 3 --
NOSE: powdered sugar currants; hint of leather; baked cherry note on Day 3, too.
BODY: hazy ruby-violet color of medium-light to medium depth; medium-light bodied.
TASTE: very fine tannins present --- very little grip, however; red fruited; chalk; high acidity; hint of savory mineral; 12.8% alc. not noticeable; very nice, and possibly my favorite D&R Mourvedre to date.

C: Dark red with a hint of brown N: A nutty aroma P: Some how bright and dark at the same time, with a very long finish. Medium body; solid and robust but very pleasant. Notes of dark fruits. 1/19/18: Decanted about 90 min this time. C: Dark, cloudy red N: Mourvèdre! P: Hardy Wallace, the mourvèdre magician, strikes again. Opens interesting, nice bright flavor with impeccable balance and very good length. After 40 min or so (and at the end of the meal, maybe that played a role) it's just singing! Hard to put the glass down. Just a terrific wine. Will it get even better with time? Dunno, but it shows no signs of decline at all. On the next night, it had grown into a steady, deep and mature flavor that was very enticing without being tired or overly heavy. A hint of things to come? Probably.

Dark ruby, clear, somehow looking like aged Bordeaux...probably characteristic of Mourvedre.
On the nose, clear floral aromas, violet. Reminds of kyoho grapes. Some spice.
Palate full of black fruits, high acid, medium chewy tannins, full bodied with a nice, medium finish.
Balanced with clear Mourvedre notes, with tall components in harmony. Alcohol feels slightly hotter than 12.8%.
