Medium to dark garnet in the glass. Opens with dark fruit, a little creosote and some of the Howell Mtn bramble or spice characteristics. Although this is technically not in the Howell Mtn AVA because it is below the fog line this nevertheless demonstrates many of the characteristics of its counterparts at higher elevation. Lovely smooth finish with well integrated tannins.

Second Sunday Group: 2007 California Cabs/blends (R&D's): Opens with a subtle beef bouillon note, followed by black fruit, asphalt and herbs. Firm and structured, like the others in this lineup, with flavors of chocolate, cassis and black fruit. Dense, chewy tannin.

Still a little young. The fruit is solid and the tannins full, but it has not completely integrated. I think the 05 is drinking great, so I would guess this one needs one or two more years in the cellar. I also think the rating will go up a few points at that point.

Always a favorite. Very consistent year to year. Sandy and John make it all. Big fruit and balanced tannins. A great bottle for the price.

Arns is one of the most consistent small production cabs. This bottle was typical 'Arns'. Nice fruit and balanced tannins. Great finish.

A little young, but a well crafted cab. Arns is consistent year after year with the same pair making it.

I like the 07 Arns. It has good fruit and tannin balance. Not as in your face as the 05 but a good drinker.

Sampled 1/30/11. Alcoholic, young, tannic with some spice. I have never been a fan of Arns, although some people definitely find it to their liking.
