BWC 2014 - The Grand Crus of Chambertin: Major league wine from a minor league village. In the glass it feels like a classic version of delicious and highly expressive, pungently textured and aromatic Burgundy wine. Lovely stony purity, that minty sensation that I associate with ripe Burgundian chardonnay, harmonious and nicely textured. Focused and delicious. Excellent wine - an advertisement for en Remilly and for H. Lamy.

Bright straw/gold, subdued nose but really opens up on the palate. Citrus, subtle oak, great texture, and a persistent finish that shows some minerality and verve. Very literally mouth-watering. All three bottle drank quite nicely over several years, looking forward after the last of the 02s now to start on the 04s

Surprise (Simen): Light, straw yellow. Pleasant, medium intense burgundy nose with flint, citrus and minerals. Soft and creamy on the palate, medium fruit with citrus tones and well balanced acid. Ends a bit short, otherwise a very good st. aubin (3 x 89 p)

Really came around after a few years, compared with 2005 note. Drinking beautifully with nice balance, citrus and green apple with undertones of honey (but not a hint of sweetness), round and long finish. Subtle oak and vanilla to balance it out. Happy to have one more bottle, will drink it soon.

Lemon oil, green apple, and minerals dominate, bracing (almost mouth-puckering) acidity, and a bit of oak and faint nuttinesss on the finish. Very tight and structured, likely could use another year or two to mellow out and open up a bit. A bit too sharp-edged on its own, but an excellent foil for the very rich seafood dish tonight.

Good concentration, acidity, and minerals; oak somewhat too prominent for my taste. Would like to see a bit more fruit too.

Dinner w/ Vikram @ Town Hall. Expansive flavors of citrus and minerals. Crisp acidity; very food-friendly. Long finish. Delicious.
