This one is a bit corked. Wet cardboard and damp dog on the nose. Can still extract the bright red cherry notes and tannic structure, but no rating due to TCA on this one.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted blind over approx. 30 min. --
NOSE: light oak; bit high-toned; little bit of brett in the background; medium+ expressiveness.
BODY: medium-light bodied.
TASTE: juicy; red-fruited; tastes young; strawberry; calling CA Rhone blend. Was somewhat surprised at the reveal, although this is not the first time I've called a Pinot a Rhone blend when tasting blind. This is definitely on the riper side, and – as far as Pinot goes – is not what I'm looking for.

Added a bottle to my last Envoyer order to try: Santenay at $30 a bottle is good pricing these days, not to mention 1er Cru, and I have recollections of enjoying V & S Morey Santenay in days gone by. Out of the bottle, dumb and stoney; over half an hour, begins to open, showing youthful, rich-ish fruit and a coarse, serrated knive's edge of acidity. I hope for more excitation yet to come over the next day or two & will try to add a few more notes along the way.

attractive bouquet of ripe fruit with a hint of pan grille mouth - surprisingly big fruit here but also clean and still true to varietal form. not necessarily finessed but quite yummy and a wine that i think many will derive pleasure from. perhaps with time it will mellow out but it serves up good pleasure now. havent had much Santenay but i suspect this is somewhat atypical.

Herbal nose. Cola, red cherry, a bit of graphite. Drinking well but has many more good years ahead.

This is drinking so well right now. 4th bottle in 6 weeks. Crunchy red fruits with a mineral spine and a long finish.

Wonderful aromatics, and good earthy, bakey flavors. Great bargain.
