Note from day 2. Very dark, just a little brown on the rim. Quite intense on the nose, dark fruit, blackberry and dark cherry, very pure not much in the way of secondary notes. Ripe and rich on the palate, full bodied with soft tannins and a full sweet dark fruited finish. More blackberry fruit with some currant and cherry on the finish. Nice long finish. Excellent wine, just lacking some "wow" for a higher score. Getting close to peak on this tasting.

Decanted and enjoyed from magnum at a Father’s Day family dinner celebration featuring smoked beef ribs. Great mix of black and blue fruits, with lots of earth tones to provide developing complexity, medium plus body. Would have preferred more intensity, but overall a very good effort. Drink through 2030.

For me had an overwhelming barnyard nose. Too much bret for my taste. Was really looking fw to this bottle and kept hoping will get better with air. Not much over 1hr in decanter.

A thin core of brambly fruit is present on day 1. Day 2 found the same. As a long time consumer of Betz, I've grown more unimpressed with the product. This wine just doesn't justify the $60.00 release price.

Friday Night Brown Bagger (J&J's): Double blind. Opens with weedy vegetal notes, definitely has some brettanomyces taint, with black fruit in the background. Black fruit on the palate along with a chemical quality. Chemical and higher acid, lots of weedy elements too. Guessed Rhone. (R&D)

As far as I'm concerned this was basically a waste of time. The Paradigm Merlot for $53 completely blows this out of the water, so do many other Napa Merlots. Sure, not an apples to apples comparison. Nonetheless a waste of my time and money.

Purple in color. 14% ABV. Savory nose of black fruits, charred meats, coffee and flowers. Full bodied with strong acidity. Young, of course, but surprisingly approachable. Blackberry, olive brine, bacon fat and minerals on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Really outstanding Syrah and the best Betz in recent memory. Drink over the next 4-6 years.
One of better Serenne noses that I have smelled. Deep dark berry with a distinct forest floor aspect the that is very appealingly. Heavy mouthfeel. Blueberries, pepper. Very jammy.
Too early clearly but a very good initial showin

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (M&R's): Double blind. High-toned dark and blue fruit. Firm tannin. Sweet dark fruit on the palate; vanilla and spice in the finish. Pretty high alcohol, or it at least tastes that way. Guessed syrah; give this some time and hope for better.

Outstanding wine! Rich, robust, savory and wild. Black pepper, dark berry, grilled beef and black olive. Love this stuff! Drink now - 2030.

Really well made Syrah. Depth, length, texture, balance. It's all there.

1/2 hour decant. This is in a good place. I see no reason to hold off for more than the next 2-3 years.

Exellent...red/black fruit with cracked pepper, earth, and some barnyard funk. A very meaty Syrah, long finish.
