Pierre Morey/Fourrier Dinner at La Paulée de Los Angeles (Bicyclette, Los Angeles): Same saturation as 2017. Aromas of soil and herb at first, then more fruit, including citrus peel, later. Weight somewhere between the first 2 vintages. Clearly a sweeter, riper entry than the 2017, but this has nice tanginess as well. Blue and black fruit, solid acidity, moderate ripe tannins, and soil that runs the length of the wine in a refined way. Anise twist that is not as prominent as in the 2019. At once, excellent density and a sense of elegance. More than approachable tonight, but not nearly as expressive as the 2017. This is clearly outstanding too and will be a marvelous, rather chewy CSJ with more time in bottle. I would hold this at least until its 20th birthday.

Decanted. Exotic spice and juicy citrus fruit characteristic of Fourrier. Needs a lot more air and indeed turns out very fine, but has its spotlight stolen by the Centenaire. 93-94

Quintessential fourrier in every way, exotically floral. when compared with the centenaire of the same vintage in the flight, it is obviously lighter and less structured yet stilll a great wine.

Like many 2015s, the wine is suprisingly accessible. Nose had sweet candied fruit, violets, black cherries and spice. Palate was sweet and expressive with layers. Excellent balance. Great to taste this again after the EP tasting. Fourrier nailed this vintage.

The Return to San Sebastian; 5/17/2019-5/18/2019 (San Sebastian, Spain): Young tight and a bit powerful. Not very giving and frankly a bit too young. Our friend went for it given the price was too good not to try but the truth is it was far too young for it. No point in rating at this stage.

Denne var mørk og tett ved åpning. Dag 2: Fortsatt en mørk aromaprofil. Stor dybde her, men gir ikke fra seg mye detaljer. Parfymen lusker rundt i bakgrunnen. 93-94p for denne gang.

La Paulée de SF Grand Tasting (Fairmont Hotel, SF CA): Yet again a step-up in the Fourrier wines. Forward and rich with Grand Cru level concentration, richness and depth. A rich, big and extracted CSJ. Not classic, but darn tasty. 93-95

Some Wines from the 2018 La Paulée Grand Tasting of 2015 Burgundy (The Fairmont, San Francisco): Tremendous sap and feel that really is at Grand Cru level. A completely different animal in this regard from the Jadot Clos St. Jacques tasted earlier. Ripe and fruit driven but with more of a black fruited flavor than the 3 other wines. Roundly, deeply tannic as well. Profound and has the potential to age for 3 decades, but probably not to the taste of classicists. Still, whatever your preference in Burgundy, it is hard not to admire the depth of this wine.

Pearl of Burgundy 2015 Tasting (Hong Kong): No detail notes. This was clearly the favourite amongst many, stunning alive with layers and layers of flavours. Unfortunately only had a small pour.

I am not a big Pinot Noir fan (except for Champagne), but this I really enjoyed. Rich and (for a PN) full bodied.

WOW. Deep dark big red wine. Opened for 45 minutes. Impressive dark fruits with a medium dry finish. This wine will be stunning in 5 years.

Deep dark red big wine. Black cherry and plum fruit with pleasant finish. Wine needs more aging to approach potential.

Rich and warm, lacks Burgundy character, could be Pinot Noir from anywhere.
