Medium body, bold dark cherry fruit and some oak that is not quite in ideal balance yet but this is still very enjoyable. I suspect this will improve quite a bit from here in another 3-5 years and beyond.

Some Wines from the 2018 La Paulée Grand Tasting of 2015 Burgundy (The Fairmont, San Francisco): Red. Slight animal aromas along with candied cherries. Light to medium weight. Civilized, refined feel, excellent rising soil toward the end. Really good, polished wine that like many of its Grand Cru counterparts today lacked the strapping austerity and tannic clout that one normally finds in this appellation. Better than the Corton Charlemagne.

Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Formento's - Chicago IL): Powerful array of ripe orchard fruit with no shortage of structure, all in the right place. Long, lingering, powerful finish.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Charming and pretty that seems nicely accessible, but with sneaky structure emerging on long(ish) finish. I like it, but others seemed to enjoy it more today.

Quite rich, deep cherry fruit, on the slightly riper side, tasty right now.
