Hearty fruits and savory aromatics reminding me of meat hashmarks. Over a couple of hours this starts to get earthier, showing some tar but the texture gets juicy.
May not wow anyone if sipped alone, so throw some nice marbled meat on the grill.

Overextracted Toro, muted black fruits and leather on the nose, hot and unsettled with rough edge on the palate. Not impressed. Maybe a few more years could help.

The 89-90 aggregate score listed here is very fair. I would give it a 90-91 score but I suspect I am nitpicking -- mainly b/c I tend to embrace the wines from the Iberian peninsula. So, I like to think I am a fair, knowledgable judge. Grab this one. Particularly if you can steal it for under $15. Still enjoying the second day.

Pop and Pour. Restrained nose and palate. Enjoyable mid weight wine. Probably needs some decanting time to open up. Will wait a bit on remaining bottles or decant 1 hour+.

Medium-full-bodied with high acidity. Drinking well after 30 mins. Very deft oak balance to the dark fruit notes. Good pairing with marinara sauce, but it gets overwhelmed by Camembert cheese; should withstand most rich, middle of the road dishes. 14.5% ABV. Update: 24 hours later, the wine that was left over in a covered glass at room temperature was still surprisingly fresh, just seemingly less acidic, akin to a Bordeaux with more age to it thus. I'm very impressed with this bottling! Should drink well through the end of the next decade.

Made the mistake of opening this after a surprisingly good (but equally cheap) Bordeaux. This has cassis and cigar box flavors, but I'm turned off by the caper and olive oil notes and the unctuous finish.

Excellent QPR that punches well above its weight. Simple and short yet balanced and charming. I was impressed with how fresh and vibrant it was. Subtle notes of tangy cherries, pipe tobacco, dried leather, and olives. A splendid Friday night quaffer with re-purposed leftovers. Drink now - 2022. Technical score: 89. Enjoyment score: 91.

Day 2 tasting: aromas of blackberry, vanilla and tea. Flavors of green olive, red plum and blackberry. Tannins are smooth but acidity is a little high. Slightly better Day 1 if memory serves.

I am not sure if this is flawed or just really bad. The first glass was quite harsh. I thought maybe the vintage will get better in a few years. To test, Vacu-Vin'ed it and let it sit for a couple days. Tasted again and it really was terrible. Not musty or old, just rough like hooch. Poured the the rest down the drain.

20 minute decant (small amount of sediment) Better than last tasting 3 years ago. Very good overall and good value at $18 CAD.

Raising my rating after a pairing with spicy brisket. Stands up superbly with a heavier meat and spice.

Very juicy, not a fruit bomb, but juicy. Decent acid and a moderately long finish. Not a bad Tuesday wine for the price.

Very solid value. Medium to full bodied. Well integrated structure. Ripe red fruit.

Other bottles were not so bad but really not very good. Dirty. Rough. Not much to enjoy.

Really nice, versatile red with good fruit & good moderate tannins. Can pair with grilled steak, but also nice on its own. Really good QPR!
