Last bottle and this has matured into a very nice but mellow village level wine. The red berry fruit has sort of faded into the background but the balance remains. Nothing overly complicated but still very pleasant. Probably should be good for another year or two. Clearly a good vintage here but the winemaker deserves praise as well.

Pnp and it was fairly clear that some decanting probably would have been a good idea as this was closed and tight to begin with but after the food (veal chops) it opened up and softened considerably, merging nicely with the remnants of the cream and mushroom sauce on the palate. A good but not great Volnay.

Nice Volnay - the acidity for me was a touch too sharp but this hopefully will balance out in a few years. There was enough of everything else to suggest a very good wine just waiting to evolve.

Tasted alongside the 2010. As you would expect, 2015 fruitier, darker fruit, more tannic but the same vibrant acidity. 2010 has a much more expressive finish for now. 15 should be good and probably similar to how the 2010 tastes now in 5 years or so. Good now if you like ‘em young.

Very youthful nose showing very primary fruit and some malo notes. With time and air it develops some dark cherry, strawberry, rose petals and damp soil but also some very distinct notes of toasty oak, vanilla and coffee.
Dense and rather powerful on the palate with high acidity and medium(+), grippy tannins. Very good intensity to the flavors with dense red fruit, oak and vanilla. I do find this rather heavy, extracted and out of balance today.
A denser and more powerful wine than one would expect from Volnay village. This one needs time to come together and has stuffing to hold for a long time.
