  • Good, not great, and not a patch on the 2009 consumed the night before. Soft berry fruits, slightly gamey, and none of the tannick backbone evident in the better vintages. Seems a bit adolescent and will def give a few years before looking at again.

  • Drinking very nicely. Quite fruity for a cab sav, but deliciously so. And a lovely eucalyptus scent on the nose. Very nice.

  • {screwcap} Ripe and fruity for Tahbilk. Plums, blackberries. Not hugely cabernet although there's a curranty blackness I suppose. Fine medium tannins, more grape than oak. Low/medium acidity. Medium weight, and medium length finish. One of the better vintages over the past decade I think. Keep another 5-8 years easily, and see some evolution too.

  • {screwcap, 13.5%} Mid garnet, looks a few years old. Nicely developed nose of sweet black currant, coconut oak, and a liquorice tone. Generous, especially for Tahbilk. Jube-like palate, with fine soft powdery tannins and low-medium acidity. Only medium weight, finishes quickly, but with nicely ripe if subtle red berry flavours. Doesn’t seem like it has the structure for real aging. Makes a pleasant if somewhat dilute tasting experience.

  • {screwcap, 13.5%} Solid garnet red. Rich, super-current cabernet nose. Quite fruity-driven; minimal oak influence. The palate is decent enough, with fruit ripeness nicely judged, black fruit flavours to the fore, but it’s low in acid, which gives it a thick sort of texture, despite its otherwise medium weight. This all makes it a bit clunky and clumsy on the palate, falling into a no-mans land that’s neither a fruit-bomb nor properly savoury. I’d be inclined to hold for a bit longer in the hope that it will meld together better and the apparent acid deficiency will dissipate. Although, at around $20 on release, expectations should be realistic. Excellent value for what it is.

  • There is some herbal savoury noted, noce, but the wine is lacks concentration. For short term cellaring and yet it needs some - in the next couple of years all you’ll get is a good value quaffer.

Wynns Coonawarra beats this for value.

  • Notes of mint and five-spice are evident on a sturdily constructed palate of black olive, herbs and dark fruits alongside fine, ripe tannins that will support the development of additional character and complexity if cellared.

  • Mild, smoky black-fruit nose, with hints of capsicum and black pepper. Palate is light-to-medium-bodied, with a moderately tannic finish. Big fruit on the entry (blackcurrant, red cherry, basil, charcoal), but doesn't have a heavy body to back it up.
