My kind of pinot — concentrated; delicious dark cherry, not lush or in-your-face though. Almost northern Rhone minerally/syrah-like. Unique and wonderful.

Floral and spiced with ripe black cherry start-to-finish. On the rich and fleshy side, yet also easily balanced, with a long and nearly bright finish. Good+ now.

Dark crimson in color. 14.1% ABV. Gorgeous nose of dark fruits, cloves, cherry cola and forest floor. Medium to full bodied with perfect acidity. Dark and brooding. Black cherry, baking spices, earth and minerals on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. My favorite wines in the RM Pinot Noir lineup lean a little more red fruited that this Silver Eagle but it is still hard to resist what is in the bottle. Best over the next 2-4 years.

The last time I enjoyed this wine was in Joliet Illinois while watching a Cubs game. And at that point in time, noone cared who anybody was. Which is the point of wine. Share wine with those you love! This wine was enjoyed with an herb salmon and was a beautiful pairing. Rounded black cherry and black pepper spice. All the subtle nuances of this beautiful Pinot with 7 years of age was a beautifully balanced wine with a great obtunded character and youthful fruit profile that seemed like it could hold another 10 years. This is my last one of these, I'm very sorry to say so. Really wish I could find another half dozen as this one will hold beautifully.

Opened, poured and let sit 35 min. Then: Maybe some reddish-darkish fruit on the nose. First taste is very spicy; red fruit; maybe some cola; spice and red fruit carries through on the finish. The cola aspect was interesting, but disappeared quickly. Middle still spicy; medium body; decent acidity. After about 1/2 hr from first taste, this is turning darker fruited and riper tasting; spice mostly faded; the riper/reductive taste there on the finish as well. Started out very well, but transitioned to something less interesting and a bit less tasty. My first bottle out of several others. Based on this one, I'll try the next one earlier than planned. Day 2: This pour picked up where last night's left off - the riper fruit aspect - and stayed that way through the glass (45 min). Not my preferred pinot profile, but still OK-tasty. Tonight was very light bodied, almost watery at times. I'll definitely open the next bottle within a month or so.

Black cherry and black raspberry on the nose. Between medium and full bodied (14.1% ABV) with a mix of red cherry and black cherry upfront. Adds some red berry notes through the middle which contributes a brighter highpoint, while the rest of the mid-body shows a good depth of black cherry and hints of black raspberry. Tart notes (both acidity and tart cherry) come in on the backside. When combined with the integrated tannins, provides good support fro the fruit. Drinking quite well at present and while it may integrate a bit further, I don't see any strong reasons to delay drinking these over the next 2+ years.

More on the feminine side of pinot, but delicious. We found it to be the best Rivers-Marie we've tasted so far. Densely made. Dark in color with a wonderful fruity nose and a flavor profile that kept slowly evolving. Very clean without defects and off flavors.

3.5 min in the vspin. This is dark and inky. Maybe the darkest colored pinot noir I have ever seen and consistency more like syrah. Really lovely fruit with smooth and soft tannins. Extracted but not overly so and with the medium to heavy body, it all comes together into a very nice wine.

Gorgeous bing cherry nose laced with spice and a bit of cedar. Assertive yet well balanced, with lively acidity and a lingering cherry finish. A bit one-dimensional, but a lovely dimension it is.

Fruit forward nose of bing cherry, black raspberry, tangerine peel, bay leaf, earth and spice notes. A lot going on here, with juicy acidity and a long finish. This is on the bigger end of the spectrum in the RM lineup, but while pushing the envelope, this is still well-balanced and complex.

Beautiful nose as soon as it was open. Black cherry, black raspberry, earth, forest floor and spice. Benefitted from some time open. Layers of flavor with black raspberry, cherry, earth, spice, vanilla. Full bodied, rich with a long finish with soft tannins. Good now, but better in a few years.

Seems young still. Cherries, cola. Should benefit from more time, as evidenced from a glass that was tasted after being out for seven hours and which had much more complexity. Declined overnight in bottle With vacu-vin but still good. Two of same bottles brought to dinner. 91+

Pop and pour and initially tasted at a cool cellar temp (55F) and followed as it warmed up a bit to low 70s. Tasted with food (linguine in a tomato-basil sauce, and roasted chicken with olives, lemons, and capers, all in case you were wondering). Ruby color; a bit cloudy. Nice nose of black cherries and fresh earth, and forest floor (sous bois). Rich blackberries with a citrus peel note - like burned tangerine peel that is a counter to the rich black fruits. Some cassis and brown spice as well. I get a slight bitterness (burnt tangerine peel) that may have been from the toasted oak barrels.

PnP. Same notes as a few months ago. I definitely prefer this over the Kanzler Pinot that I had the other day. This Silver Eagle had some more earth and spice notes to elevate its flavor profile. The Kanzler was more lush and round, and subsequently a bit more simplistic by comparison. Drink the Silver Eagle now and over the next year or so.

Black cherry, black/red plum, currant, earth, wet mulch and tobacco, and soil. Subtle spice. Round and straightforward. Decent depth, medium bodied. Not super complex. Notably satisfying but not backflip remarkable. Sappy and a little bit overly round at times. 91-92 points. Drink now and over the next couple of years tops.

At pop and pour, the nose was just a bit muted and I didn’t get much on the palate either, especially on the fruit spectrum. After an hour and 30mins, WOW! The nose burst forth with candied cherries, spices, and an underbrush note. Acidity is still pretty strong as expected. Fantastic weight on the palate. Cherry pie on the front and middle but the finish is a bit savory and herbal. Tannic and young, but great potential.

Enjoyed at the Joliet fest at the Big Chill on the first Cubs game. This wine was just as good as it was the other several times. And can definitely stand on its own. This wine went best with an Italian beef pizza with peppers, mushrooms on a thin crust. This wine had a thick, fruit forward black cherry core, herbaceous, even a bit volcanic. The finish thins out just a tiny bit but allows the more herbaceous notes of the pinot to shine on through. This wine has a lot of weight to it, and I continue to be impressed. This wine won the "non Cabernet WOTN" at the Chill. LOTS of time ahead of it. 10 years easy.

Definitely not as silky as the Kanzler Vineyard Pinot Noir offering for the year, but still has incredible fruit. This wine pours with a maroon tinge, and a rather interesting nose which shows off the raspberry fruit but also with a note of grandmother's closet. I know that doesn't seem appeasing, but it already appears to be aged in a way. On the palate, this is a medium plus buddy offering, with excellent raspberry and a floral and somewhat herbal front and middle. The finish is a little more abrupt than I expected it to be. Honestly, I believe this particular wine needs a few years of age before trying it again. Out of all the offerings I have tried so far, I believe this one will probably go the distance. Although not drinking the best now, I can see this one kicking ass and taking names in a few years. Awesome bottle, and will certainly hold the rest for a year to see where they are. After 30 minutes of being open, this one is expressing very nicely throughout the mid palate and finish. So give this one a little bit of decanting time. Excellent wine, but I don't think it's really ready to rate right now. Drink 2018-2028.
