Popped and poured at cellar temp. Dark earth, Sweet Asian spices and spicy underbrush on the nose. Nice balance of sweet dusty black cherry fruit acidity with tannic structure that is resolved but very present. Really in a lovely spot 5 years out with some room to continue to improve.

Light ruby color. Big nose of cranberry, cherry, spices, fall air. The palate strikes a wonderful balance of softness, bright fruit, and acidity. It’s in a really nice place right now.

In a very nice spot right now, past the 5 year dumb phase. 2015 continues to be a favorite willamette vintage. Very elegant wines with nice round acidity.

Exotic, spicy, earthy indulgence, with beautiful Pinot character, and silky mouth feel. This is a very seductive wine, and my favorite showing from this vineyard thus far.

Willamette Valley Trip - June 2018; 6/8/2018-6/11/2018: From the Van Duzer corridor. Due to the heavy winds of this site, the end result here is a bit darker color with some slight bricking on the edges and fruit that falls in the middle of the red/black spectrum. Still an overall soft wine consistent with the house style.

Solid Pinot, but can use some more time to integrate.
Nice crisp flavors of tart red plums, cherries, chalk and spice. Still needs some more time to integrate, but the right ingredients are there. Will give my next several bottles a little more time. Nice now - but still early in its drinking window. Rating is based on current drinking, and not future potential.

Somewhat muted fruit at this stage, but with potential to be special. My preference lies with the other three Franny Beck bottlings. It will be interesting to see what happens a couple of years from now.

Not the right situation for the formal tasting note. Suffice it to say this wine was spectacular. From the nose, to the balance on the palate, to the delicious factor, to the length of the finish, this was just really, really good. Next time I'll have to pay closer attention and figure out the details, but for now I'll just keep this producer very high up my list of wines to buy.

This one was a little closed off. Not as fruit forward as the others. It was light with LOTS of structure and acid. While it wasn't the groups favorite it was one of mine. I like them pretty like this.

Tasted at a private tasting with the entire 2015 horizontal. Just recently bottled, so all of the Franny Beck Wines were a little tight. I thought the Johan Vineyard needs more time in the bottle. It had some gritty tannic structure that likely won't integrate for some time. Exciting to see the difference between the 2014/2015 Johan. It had been a while since I have tasted the 14 Johan, but I feel like it is a bit lighter bodied than the 2015.

A great wine that needs several hours of air to really open up.

Drinking beautifully, and should continue to do so for 5 + more years.

I agree with the other notes posted. Needs more time on its side. Really muted and disjointed at this time.
