Colour is still pretty young looking, not much brick on the rim, lovely red cherry robe. More red and black cherries on the nose, still pretty primary with limited secondary notes, maybe a tinge of mushroom and some oak. Palate is medium bodied, still with some sweetness, more red cherry but also some raspberry/strawberry. Juicy, but with soft tannins. Just a bit of acidity to keep things in balance. Excellent and tasty. Not sure this had enough backbone to go a few more years - so glad I opened now. Interested to see if this gives some more with air. For now, solid 91.

Nose of dry red fruits, wet clay/earth, sawdust and a light note of oil paint. Lively red berry drives across the tongue with acidity and energy adding cherry, sour preserve notes, and plenty of spice and lots of grainy texture. The tannins build on the finish, adding strawberry pie, the same wet earth from the nose, some Indian spice, and a light oak frame. Well balanced and drinking well now. QPR on this one was reasonable for Kosta too as I paid $77.

A little earth. A little spice. Smooth very mild tannins. Dark fruits. Multi layered reminiscent of burgundy but distinctly Californian in style with higher alcohol %. Opens with Burgundian perfume. Very easy to drink and Burgundian like in that it is just as good with or without food. 1.5L went fast.

Ruby red in color. 14.3% ABV. Brooding nose of dark fruits, plums, cloves and forest floor. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Rich, lush and elegant. Black cherry, cranberry, pomegranate and earth on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Stunning Pinot Noir that for me never fails to deliver. Drink this over the next several years while you let the Single Vineyard Designates age a little bit longer.

Of all the Kosta Browne wines I've tasted, THIS IS THE ONE I HATE THE LEAST... it's a back-handed compliment which means: Don't buy this crap! It's just fruity and oaky with no sense of Terrior or any distinctive style. It also carries a slightly bitter (and mercifully short) finish. These wines should be priced 50% - 75% lower, but that would still be a waste of good money.

Bright tastes, a good year, and absolutely the earthy taste of the Russian River valley. Might be too fruity for some, but I didn’t experience it that way, especially when I let it linger in my mouth before swallowing. More complex over a couple of days.

Tasted blind - Simple and expressive. Sweet dark cherry, ripe stems, sweet spices and coconut. Not a lot of tannins, luscious wood toast and spices, slightly cloying on the palate. American / Australian? Pinot Noir? 2017? Drink now – 2031. (85/100)

Opened about 30 minutes before drinking and it was a tast explosion when it hit your mouth! Light and smooth with a silky finish that really lasts the whole swallow. Fruit was light and bright - did not taste much “dark” fruit. Should continue to age and be fantastic for many more years however if you have it now, go ahead and enjoy!

Fruit forward with ripe cherry notes along with Asian spice on the finish. Classic Kosta Browne pinot but lacks a "wow" factor the single vineyard wines often have. As KB increases its price, they will need to increase the quality and consistency of their wines.

Drinking really well right now. Not the most complex or intriguing pinotnout there but has a great harmony of acid and fruit with just enough tannins to give it some “oomph” with it overpowering the fruit.

Modern style Pinot bouquet. Asian spice and red fruits. There’s a hint of cinnamon and other cookie spices like star anise and cloves. Great mouthfeel that lasts well over 45 seconds. Highly recommend.

Easy to drink and enjoy. High quality red raspberry and red berry notes on a smooth and seamless delivery. Very nice mouthfeel and fresh on the palate. I think this is very nice but there are others that deliver as much or more with greater value. KB has earned its place over its lifespan as a premier Pinot producer. This is a great appellation wine by any estimate, no flaws or shortcomings but I look for a bit more of a “wow” factor at this price point.
Cousin Pudge brought over and was decanted 1 hour prior to serving. Red fruits in the front but not overwhelming. Later as the wine opened up there was some subdued roasted coffee notes and earthy notes. Can see this wine getting better with some more cellar time. Wine was enjoyed and will wait on the other bottles.

I really enjoyed this appellation wine from the Russian River. Incredibly textured and seamless on the the palate. Mouth-filling without being over extracted or flabby. Demonstrated purity of fruit from beginning to end with cherry and red raspberry notes. Expressive and drinking beautifully. This is clearly a more positive commentary than my last note on this wine. It demonstrated some of the nuances and qualities that elevated my experience this time. A good reminder that my impressions have much to do with timing, setting, place and mood.

To be fair, this was consumed during one of those evenings of vinous debauchery where good food, good friends and encouragement lead to some level of overindulgence. While I often think my tasting notes come more from an emotive than technical standpoint, this probably is the case as well with this wine. It was good, but it didn't shine. It was clearly well-made, beautifully crafted and of great quality- but it did not really grab my attention. You may say, an appellation wine is not supposed to, but I feel at this price point it should at least get a second look or spark some additional interest. It is solid. It was worth drinking. I would drink it again, and will. But daresay I was looking for more- just a nuance or a piece or an element that I would be stating that this is well worth the price of admission. I realize everyone has their own definition of QPR and price points vary with the means we have to pursue them. I wish I felt this was more than nondescript. I probably was not in the optimum position to taste with clarity. While the price/valuation continues to escalate, my peer CT drinkers seem to generally rate this where I did.
Disappointing versus previous vintages. Although it was well received by others, the overall opinion was that this Pinot Noir from KB was not as full bodied as earlier vintages (we described it as being thin on the palate). We give it a 90 rating, but not worth the price.

Classic KB RRV Pinot. Very pungent aromatics of peppery tart cherries, earth and so much spice. Palate is rich and voluptuous. So much fruit, very juicy and fruity as a whole. Very stinky - truffles and white pepper. Long finish that lasts. Lower acidity, higher alcohol as you'd imagine. While this is less and less my style, this was very tasty tonight.

Better than the last time - coming into its own, typical cherry notes, moderate extraction, balanced and excellent, exactly as expected from KB. Seems to be integrating well, next bottle will be opened a year out, but nothing stopping you from consuming now.

Opened last night. With air, this has really come alive. Dark cranberry but still translucent with big thick legs. The nose is outstanding with beautiful ripe cherries and crushed roses. Deeply fruited. Rich and round in the mouth with a very plush texture. Tons of crushed fruit. This is a big-time Pinot with a terrific finish. 5-13-17-9: 94/100.
