M&PD Tasting: Bisato (Seattle, WA, USA): OMFG. The concentration is incredible. So deep, mineral, mouth-filling, the wine of the night. I was just in awe of this.

Ramonet Montrachet: The 2014 is truly outstanding as its pedigree and previous tastings would predict. However, flighted between great bottles of 2013 and 2015, it didn't win WOTF from me. That honor went to the 2013.

First crack at this wine, and it met expectations, which were high. Very Ramonet, to use the cliche, but it's accurate. A lot going on with this wine, and at this point it's somewhat more intellectually rather than hedonistically pleasing, unlike a lot of the high end 2014 white burgs we've tried.

The Ramonet Montrachet is without doubt one of the wines of the vintage in 2014 and a real classic in the making. Aromas of tangerine oil, confit citrus, pear, toasted nuts and subtle spice introduce a generous, powerful wine with breathtaking balance and precision. There’s so much depth and incipient complexity wrapped up in its intricate structure; more supple than the Bâtard but no less tight-knit. For all the fuss that is made of Montrachet, here is one wine which really lives up to the reputation of the vineyard and the domaine which I’d argue is its greatest exponent. If this can survive for twenty years in the cellar then it will be perfection itself.

Cru Crew Wine dinner hosted by Brad England (Mara restaurant at the Four Seasons hotel in Minneapolis, MN.): Served alongside the '13, '15 and '16. I thought this best of the flight, although others disagreed, putting the '13 ahead. Some spice and citrus on the nose. Huge mid palate that is memorable. Wow factor for me. Long fresh finish. Outstanding wine.

Complex, intriguing, and utterly joyful even at this early stage.
