Still young and tannic, as I expected, but since I hadn't tried it for 5 years, I thought I'd pop the cork. I let it breathe for 3 hours before pouring. This is one tight, monster Cab that will no doubt still be giving pleasure to anyone fortunate enough to drink it long after I'm gone. Certainly not for the faint of heart.
(3/3/2018) Opaque purple-red. Beautiful nose and flavors of green olive, herbs and red berries softly seasoned with a hint of French oak. Full Coombsville Cab in-your-face flavors. Mercifully only 13.5% alcohol in an era when Napa Cabs sometimes soar above 16%. More like a Cabernet dominated classified Bordeaux than its too often over-oaked, over-alcoholed, over-fruited and sometimes sweet Napa cousins. A classic that is just beginning to be soft enough to enjoy. Tulocay Cabs are known to last two decades or more. Be patient with this one. NOTE: Already there is lots of sediment, primarily tartaric crystals, in this one.

Coravin’d a glass and it tasted bland. Removed cork a few days later and it was sour. Suspect a cork issue.

Cedar, vanilla, cherries, and wet earth on the nose. The palate has cranberries and pomegranate with smooth earthiness and chocolate notes.
