Wow, big intensity and concentration and body with lovely rich red and black fruit leaning towards cherry. Some resinous herb and light baking spice. Considerable impression of sweetness balanced with acidity, but rumors of the aggressive tannins seem to be left to history and now really nicely integrated in to a rich, characterful, and hedonistic whole. Was quite fresh on day 1, and much more developed on day 2 with some funk emerging and reminding me of an older LBV or vintage port.

Dark color but crystalline clear as well. Nose a bit closed at cellar temp on opening. Just a bit of blackberry and musty wood. Entry has a great sweet taste immediately that stays with it through a mid-weight mouth. Strong flavor profile for such a light nose. Rich tart cherry and blackberry. Finish has a nice bit of pepper and sweet decadent almost Indian spice. Tannins well done and not intrusive. This is a rich, decadent wine without being overly syrupy extracted sweet.

Zwarte kers, cederhout, potlood slijpsel. Smaak is dikke kers, mokka, lik vanille, flinke lengte, tannines zijn lekker en hebben grip. Mooi op dronk, maar nog wat jaar slapen kan ook best.

Who would've thought Aglianico could be this good!? Big, bold and rich with no sharp edges. Will compete against much higher priced wines in a blind test. Uncork approx one hour prior to serving. In the heart of the drinking window IMHO.

Gang of 5 in Covid19 times; No theme. We each brought some wines. (@ RW): Cherries and dark berries in the still youthful bouquet. Good spiciness as well. On the palate a very juicy and youthful wine with fresh acidity, good fruits, herbs and spices and good tannin. This wine will improve over the next 5+ years and can probably last until well in the 2030’s.

Really liking this wine. Rich and elegant and dense mouthfeel. Great dark berry fruits. Tooth staining red and purple. Nice mineral element, some earthiness. But loads of dense sweet dark berry fruit without being OTT.

In the bouquet dark berries and graphite. On the palate concentrated dark berries and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg etc. Good acidity, a lot of sweetness and round tannin. In September I was impressed by this wine, but now I am somewhat disappointed. I have a few more, so there will be a follow up. For tonight 89.

EEE September 2019; Aglianico (@ MvGr): Cassis and blackberries in the bouquet. On the palate a sweet start, dark berries, licorice and sweet spices, chocolate, mild acidity and tannin, a lot of sweetness and concentration and fresh acidity.

Aromatic and complex nose with dried berry, tree bark, sweet spice and tar aromas. Full and ripe, sweet centered palate with firm, structured tannins and balanced acidity. The big warm finish is both fruity and rustic. Lingering wine-soaked pipe tobacco flavours. 4.5/5

100% Aglianico aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. Medium-high intensity aromatics are complex with spicy, blackberry, dark berry, leather, herbs, earth, and a touch of savoury funk. Some smoky mineral notes develop with air. It is full-bodied and concentrated with nicely balanced aroma replays, plus black pepper, fig, and floral nuances supported by fresh, bright acidity to keep things quite light on the palate. Firm, drying, mouth-puckering tannins have a dusty and chalky texture. The finish length is excellent with dark berry, black plum, licorice, and spice flavours. Lovely savoury-earthy character throughout. A pleasure now, but will be better in 5 years as tannins soften and integrate. An amazing wine to enjoy over the next 10-15 years. Buy 4 and enjoy one every 5 years.

Retailer tasting. The wine was dark ruby in colour. The nose was very different from you would typically expect, and on the palate the wine was sweetish and cloying, with red fruit candy flavours and smooth tannin. The wine had good length, but an awkward, sugary aftertaste. It was simple and somewhat disjointed. Maybe with dessert?
