Great value GSM blend. Fruit forward but not over extracted and cooked. Just enough tannic backbone and acidity to balance things out. Black fruit predominant. Blackberry, plum, hints of currants. You can serve this to Cali Cabernet drinkers and not hear any complaints.

Classic GSM blend notes. Lafage wines always overdeliver for the price. Their offerings are arguably the single best value out of France when looked upon from a family winery perspective. The Old Vines GSM blend has good concentration and is an easy drinking wine for the first hour - expectedly you get notes on ripe strawberries, red cherries, and pepper. After 75-90 minutes, the wood starts to present itself beautifully on the nose (very well integrated) and we get herbaceous bitter notes on the finish to add complexity. Plenty of earth on the nose the whole time. The weight is medium-full and the finish is long. Great QPR for $15

Alas. my last bottle. Much better than my previous bottle and note of 3/8/21. Fruit, tannins and alcohol are seamlessly integrated. Probably at peak right now, but if you still have a stash, it should hold up nicely for a few more years. Tonight it was a lovely companion to braised beef short ribs.

50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from 70-year-old vines.
Medium-dark ruby color. Aromas of blackcurrant, plum, mushroom, forest floor and tobacco. Creamy texture, medium-full bodied, with dark fruit on entry, pepper in the mid palate and a hint of anise in the finish. Tannins are persistent, fine-grained, and firm.
My last bottle and this has finally landed in a really nice place, with pleasing texture, balance and dense flavors.
If you have this in your cellar, it's a good time to revisit!

Pretty modern in style with fullish body, M- tannin, fairly low acid, ripe and generically fruity. Old vine concentration. Improves some with a couple hours of air but still only modest varietal or terroir character. I like the Tessellae Carignan better, I repurchased that one but won’t buy this again. 5/10

This was dark garnet colored, medium-full bodied, expressive forward black fruits with a bit of that Spanish effect coming through, a bit hot smokey, peppery creosote note accented by spice and hint of cassis.
Forward and bright ripe red and blue berries compote, violet, yellow ginger, white pepper and toasted vanilla beans. The nose is so fruity and spicy, similar to a GSM from Barossa Valley. However, the palate is not as defined, it is richly texture but lacking the flavor intensity and length suggested by the nose. In fact, it is quite one dimensional, finish is also somewhat chalky and short for now. It is probably in a shut-down phase. Hopefully it will open up after a few more years in the bottle. 87-90 pts.

Popped and poured. Fruity, very flavorful, soft tannins, a nice companion to marinated grilled rosemary leg of lamb. Vacu-vinned and finished the bottle a week later, fruitiness had faded somewhat, but still quite drinkable. Drinking very well right now but can probably last at least a few more years in the cellar.

90m air for this blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from 70-year-old vines.
Medium Purple/Ruby color. Cherry, blueberry, smoke, allspice berries, bay leaf and white pepper. Syrupy texture, medium body, dark berries on entry with blueberries in the mid-palate and a spicy lift to the somewhat firm finish.
Not much improved from prior note, so I suspect this doesn't have much evolution left in store.

Grenache spice has evolved into something a level .different from a mere two hours decant. International style. Structure holds well, red fruit still leading, a (mere) touch of savoury. Hate to agree with WA but this is well up there - 90-91

Much improved from my last tasting. Gave 90m air to this Côtes du Roussillon blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre.
Medium Ruby/Purple color. Shy at first, opening up in glass, so do not serve straight from wine fridge. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, violets and a hint of pepper.
Medium/Full-bodied, with a thick velvet texture. Red and black fruit on entry, with a hint of anise creeping into the mid-palate. The finish is peppery and firm.
Much better integrated after 6m, tannins have softened and left the wine fairly approachable. Still feels like there's evolution in store, so will wait another 6-12m before trying again.

First quick pop and pour note. Quite nice but better after 20 min or so to soften. Tannins a bit chewy st first but mellowed out. To me the fruits are dark fruits like blackberry and blueberry but the main thing for me was the leathery, earthy side and maybe some pepper from the Syrah. Next time chill and decant. Really great qpr. 8/11/18. Have enjoyed several bottles now and very consistent. Licorice and vanilla on the nose along with a little dust and a hint of alcohol at the beginning. Black fruits, moderate tannins. Very smooth and balanced.

Slightly skeptical of the 93 point rating by WA which called this wine "an incredible value." After consuming four bottles over a two week period, I was able to come to the following conclusion: served slightly chilled after slow ox for an hour. Garnet red in the glass with a nose of cranberry, sage and strawberry leading to flavors of blackberry, blueberry, red fruits, mocha and plum. Nicely integrated with the blended grape varieties well-balanced, especially after more time in the glass. Medium to medium plus body with stout but not overwhelming tannins that will tamp down with a little more bottle aging. Really nice finish. Up to two hours of decant/air time recommended. Has much in common with higher priced GSM offerings and is an excellent value worth trying.

50/40/10 Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre. Medium minus nose shows red plum, light spice (popped and poured, needs air), earth tones. Palate gives dried red fruit, allspice, fresh herbs, dried mint, more about the structure, medium tannins, medium plus acidity, medium body. Dry finish. Needs air.

Quick 45 minutes proved very beneficial to taste. Not much change with or without aeration and certainly popped during later stages of first glass. Outstanding lower end GSM offering from Eric Solomon / LaFage collaborator. Very drinkable now and will only improve with additional cellaring.

Gave 30m of air before drinking. Medium Ruby color. Notes of blueberry, blackberry, flowers, and a hint of smoke. Medium body, maybe slightly thinner than I was hoping/expecting. Slight angularity to the acid and tannins, though overall there remains a reasonable level of integration, through the medium+ finish. Right now the over-present tannins are letting the wine down, but I sense potential with some short-term cellaring.

Youthful with nice balance and a lot of body.
Vinturi after one hour open. Effective

GREAT QPR and all you would expect from a GSM. Eric Solomon selection and needs about 30-45 minutes to open up.

Solid value. Did not decant and this showed much better on the 2nd night.

Very consistent from previous tastings. Amazing QPR and what we have come to expect from Eric Solomon. A must have.

Great QPR, opens up nicely within the hour and more than you would expect for a GSM so young. Drinks higher than pricepoint.

Quick 45 minutes proved very beneficial to taste. Not much change with or without aeration and certainly popped during later stages of first glass. Outstanding lower end GSM offering from Eric Solomon / LaFage collaborator. Very drinkable now and will only improve with additional cellaring.

Solid winemaking and very approachable
Avoids the over-Oaked sweetness I was half-expecting. Against a More central red of similar price, this kicked @@@

This had an impressive nose of baked blue and black fruit. The palate followed with addition of baking spices but wasn't complex at all. Enjoyable for $13 but I'm not rushing out to buy more.

Nice nose, red berries, grenache flavours. Nice midweek wine.
