Oxidized. This is an example of why aged white burgundy is the most overpriced wine in the world. It's not that they aren't great, just that the expected value of these bottles is so low. I don't really get why people roll the dice and pay up at auction anymore. i have to assume that the crowd drinking a lot of them must be so indifferent to $ that they're willing to just take a shot and hope for a good bottle. I'm about 50% on anything white with 7-8+years of age. Would rather buy/drink younger or just drink GG Riesling instead.

Color : clear green-gold. Nose beautiful complex mix of pear, apple, white flowers with touches of aniseed, honey and jasmin. Palate medium weight with great fruit richness with long palate and strong mouthfeel. Delicious. 93.

Very good color. Beautiful aroma of apricot and almonds. First sip is almost boring, but then the true character kicks in. touch of bitter, tropical fruits soft and yet powerful. The touch of bitter reminds of ripe grapefruit.
Needs pairing with food. Paired with a salad of prawn with grapefruit. Was beautiful. Will definitely buy again

Burgundy 2002 Horisontal Tasting (@ Terkel): Nose: Wine gums, herbal, grass, pineapple, aniseed and butter. Palate: Tight and clean with fresh pineapple. A completely different wine than the Leflaive but has an excellent structure. A beautiful wine.

A night of White Burgundy and Champagne at Helsinki (Classic Wine Cellars, Helsinki, Finland): A bit disjointed at first. Gets better with enough air and finds a good balance after about an hour. Very intensive with great fruit and florality. This wine was still on the young side and would probably benefit from at least a few more years in cellar. In the end, though, it did deliver a very nice expression of Puligny-Montrachet.

I approached this with much fear, having recently had a bunch of oxidized '02. Fortunately, those fears proved unfounded: the wine was still very tight and therefore left in a decanter for 2h. It opened up and became a really, really classy Puligny. Very intense. No hurry to drink the remaining ones.

Decanted 4 hours ahead. Pale straw. First nose (on decanting) spicey, toasted vanilla. Opened to reveal fresh underlying citrus with expressions of lychee, green apple, crushed herbaceous stems. Classic Puligny on palette, sappy with a residual bite on long finish. Some questions on balance but time may still pay dividends. No rush to drink up. Excellent match with steamed lobster.

A delicate sample of white burgundy - beautiful, finesse-driven white with white/yellow fruits with a chalky frame. Very nice bottle which gains weight and intensity over the evening.

Shows very nice fresh nose, citrus and flowery but kind of disappoints a little re freshness on the taste with an oily/greasy texture almost like an old Riesling but with the Chardonnay character. Seems to have developed faster than one would expect. Aftertaste very nice with ticklish acidity.

This is an absolutely gorgeous wine, understated and subtle but totally pure and seductive with its aromas of flowers and wet stone. Great length here, and the intensity on the finish is most impressive, with a nice note of spices (nutmeg and cloves).

Quite floral with dried flowers and orange blossom aromas. The palate is rich and spicy with good depth and concentration but the acid is poking out a bit on the finish. A tad disjointed.

Mostly oxidized - a shame since there were traces of quality flavor components underneath.
