La Paulée de NY Grand Tasting (Pier 60 - NYC): And yet another step up. The aromas are darker and denser. The palate conversely is forward with incredibly silky and poised black cherry fruit. Terrific concentration and plushness. Really sexy texture in a unique style that suits Vosne. 93-95+

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. More dense and ripe than Reignots, but not quite as nuanced yet, or as texturally exciting. I think I enjoyed Reignots slightly more today, but this Echezeaux has greater (94-95+ point) upside.

La Paulée 2019 Grand Tasting of 2016 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Red fruit, spice, orange zest. Elegant, some oak. Fine, long, and balanced. Maybe not quite as memorable at its level as the Reignots, but still delicious and clearly outstanding. Probably not a 20 year wine though.

Intoxicating nose of Chinese 5 spice powder and perfectly ripe red and black fruits. There was a grating of fresh ginger too. There’s great volume and intensity in the mouth with serious mid-palate sap and a super long finish tasting of salty plum.

Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): Warm and rich nose displaying ripe blackberry, cherry compote, raspberry jam, rose, mocha and light caramel. Excellent concentration, opulent red and black fruits, round and generous, good acidity and very fine tannins. The finish is sweet and long. Perhaps the most round and generous wine of the 16 line up.

There’s a fine delicacy here but the wine lacks no power. It has red and black fruit and plenty of mineral. There’s an intense core of sweet cherry and it fans out on the finish like great Burgundy does.

LB visit. Relatively sweet with some sour plum notes. Preferred Reignots today.
