Thought this would give more, it’s a bit unbalanced. Dies mid palate, I can think of better WA cabby’s for cheaper... It would be interesting to see if you leave towards the supposed 2030 drink date....I’d drink it.

Mulberry, blackberry, cigar box, coffee grounds, savoury complexity and minerality. Many aspects of this wine worthy of a higher rating but acidity and alcohol not quite in balance, for mine.

This was a free bottle for renewing Wine Companion membership so I guess I was expecting a few more reviews , anyway
Bordeaux blend 85% cabernet sauvignon, 9% merlot, 9% Cab Franc matured for 18 months in French oak. This wine needs decanting for 1-2 hours Deepish red colour with a brick-red tinge The nose is quite complex tobacco/cedar cigarbox nuances. A hint of coffee and chocolate Palate full bodied , black fruits savoury and complex, layered and deep, very much primary fruit flavours , fresh good balance of acidity and tannins . Overall Classic WA Cabernet , just needs time to fully intergrate

Super sexy premium cabernet time with Margaret River’s Thompson Estate. A little rough treatment in the decanter fills the room with luscious fragrances while a raise of the glass provides fruit power, tannic punch and oak mayhem on the palate. Sticks to the gums, blue fruits and some red deeper raspberry with a slight astringency to close. Too young without air, but one that will wow the crowd with its chutzpah.

Very smooth, very balanced and very pleasant drinking. It is however missing a wow factor which at this price you hope wasnt the case.
